4 swords question for gamecube
« on: June 29, 2004, 08:25:28 AM »
i just bought it but am thinking of returning it before opening it.

can you play  it  2 player one with a normal gamecube control and player 2  with a gameboy?

from the back  of the box it looks like the only way you can use a gamecube controller at all is if you play only single player and if you choose to play multiplayer then you have to use all gameboys.

if this is the case i want to return it cause i bought it to play with  my son  and am not about to go buy a second gameboy just to play it.

anyone know the scoop?

No, in multiplayer all players must be using a GBA...It's necessary...

But don't return the game for that reason alone...The game is still a blast playing through single-player mode...

Yeah, I've been enjoying this game more than I did WW. Good old fashioned 2D Zelda on a console. Just think, the last time we had a 2D Zelda on a console was on the SNES.

so it's worth playing alone?

i bought it as something for my son and i to play at the same time but sounds like the only way that will happen is if we buy a second gameboy now.

Well here's a quick solution, go to a used store (like here it's called Ralph's Records) and you can pick up used GBA's for really cheap.  My friend and my girlfriend got GBA's for 20 $ a piece and I got mine for 40 (like a year ago) at Gamestop.  Sometimes Gamestop offers them cheap for like 30. So no harm there.

That's a very good suggestion.

Yes, the game is worth it for single player. That's how I've been playing the game so far. I can tell though, that the game would be even more enjoyable with mulitplayer mode.

Alright, I have saved the first maiden in both single and multiplayer.

Single player is VERY fun.  I'd say it's worth it to buy just for single player, although it does get a bit irritating having to switch Link formations and when there are four seperate switches you have to do alot of button pressing to control each Link individually, which gets a bit tedious.  Not a big deal though, since most of the time your companions will just follow you.

Multiplayer, though, is much better.  It's simply a blast, some of the most fun I've had in a while.  Even with just two players it's fuve times more fuin than single player.  It's be perfect to play with your son because you have to work together and communicate alot, while there's still the competition to see who can get the most Force Gems and who can kill the most baddies to come out on top in the end (there are rankings at the end to see who did better.)

So it would be worth it to pick up another gameboy.  Plus if you get another gameboy it opens up the possibility of playing your son in multiplayer GBA games.

Just "borrow" another GBA from a friend for an indefinate amount of time. Pick a friend with bad memory. Haha!! Just kidding... that wouldn't be nice.
