Mortal Kombat: Deception for X-box PS2 but not GC?!
« on: April 13, 2004, 09:37:16 PM »
As we all know Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance was on all gaming systems (excluding PC) and was considered to be the fighting game to change all fighting games.  Now the new mortal kombat game is set to be released on both PS2 and X-BOX but not Gamecube!  Now why is that?  I mean it isn't official that it won't be released on Gamecube but they certainly havn't suggested Gamecube as being one of the console's to support the game!!!  I'm pissed off if they don't release it on the Nintendo Gamecube.  Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was released on the Gamecube and I considered the Gamecube version to be the best.  It had a faster loading time than the PS2 (I'm not sure about the x-box version) and I found it easier to control!  They can't just decide to not release the next game on the Gamecube, especialy if they use the excuse of the Gamecube media disk only having 1.5gig of memory.  Eternal Darkness for the Nintendo Gamecube took up 9GIG and the Nintendo gamecube hardware was able to compress that memory down to 1.5 GIG.  I hope you all agree with me even if you don't own a Gamecube that Mortal Kombat Deception should be released on Nintendo's system.  Deadly Alliance worked so well on gamecube and so should Deception!!!

Midway isn't releasing anymore GC games period. I'm glad I own all three consoles. I'll actually have to dig my X-brick out of its dust pile to buy this game.

Plus, like many third party games these days, it's going to focus alot more on online play. Leaving out the online option from the title screen is way too hard for Midway. So they'll go with option B, 'make less money, piss off more fans'. I miss the N64 Midway. The Midway that made games like San Francisco Rush and Hydro Thunder. The Midway that liked Nintendo. ... The Midway that I could always start a new sentence with.

Yeah, well, they pulled out of arcades too, and it hurts me to see them limiting themselves like that when they're working on what will (probably) be a few good games. Midway Arcade Treasures, NARC, and the new Gauntlet (with Ropekid on staff lol).

Well I don't see just why Midway would decide to not release anymore Gamecube games.  They'll just end up not making as much money as what they could.  Game company's is about making as much profit as possible and Midway won't achieve there goal if they decide to not make Deception for gamecube.  Secondly it's true that gaming companies are starting to create games with online capability but is proving to have little if any return in profit, the reason being for Nintendo's decision to not go online.  Also MK Deception has online capabilities but it's only one small option out of many that MKD has to offer.  It is still largly a home based game to play with friends at home, or by yourself.  So there is no reason for MKD to not be on the Gamecube.

Also I'm not having a go at anybody hear I'm just expressing my views in the hope that anybody at Midway or anyone who works for Ed Boon will see this.  If anybody else feels the way I do please say so that I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Rush 2049 would of been better if Robocop and/or The Smurfs were in it. I know for a fact that The Smurfs will be real in the year 2049, I have my sauces.

it's because of sawdust and butchered fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1 for SNES, Midway were like 'OI i'll see about that' cause it's a single entity one guy does all the coding etc, and so he travelled forward in time to announce Deception for Xbox and PS2 only, if only Nintendo had realised at the time what they were doing, SNES is doomed.

Midway released a lot of really crappy games recently and are losing money.  Thus to lower costs they've dropped support of the console they had the poorest sales on: the Gamecube.  It's too bad because NOW after giving us sh!t like Spy Hunter they finally seem to be on the path of making decent games again.  It's incredibly ironic that once Midway started making games that would actually sell with the Cube userbase they dropped Cube support.

Let's help remedy the Acclaim problem by having everyone buy new copies of Burnout 2.  I bought my copy at full price a year ago, so now it's someone else's turn.

Midway is selling shares. Nintend could buy some and force them to develop. Or better yet, Nitnendo fans can buy Midway shares and force them to develop for the Cube Maybe i should go on the Aprentice, Win and make Donald trump buy out Midway so i could run it and force them to make games on the cube... boy im tired

Professional: You'd need to smack Criterion, it was their decision not to develop BO3 for the Cube. Or you could convince EA to make them an offer they can't refuse...

So, no new Mortal Kombat for Gamecube? Should I write Midway and thank them, or would simple flowers be more appropriate?

Dear Midway

Thank you for not giving people who only own a GCN as their next gen console the option of purchasing your upcoming Mortal Kombat game.

Yours sarcastically, some guy on a forum.

And the folks over at Midway are scrambling around everywhere trying to figure out how to respond to such a witty responce to their decision. Then they have a BBQ.
