What's the best NTSC portable screen for gamecube?
« on: March 13, 2004, 05:43:34 PM »
I'd assume the joytech would be the best screen since it plugs into the digital port, however it's PAL only.
Intec apparently is better than Interact, but even then the quality of the screen is in question.
I've seen several other brands, many are no names. I know there is a hip gear controller and screen in one, but I have no idea about the quality, and red hot games(spin off of interact) has a 'digital screen' but I don't know if it's actually digital or if it's just the name.
Thanks for any opinions.

I believe Intec and Interact were the only companies making portable screens for the Gamecube, with Intec being the better of the two. I think they've foled since then, though, making it very difficult to find one of their screens.

Intec's website is definetely still up, and their monitors don't seem to be in short supply on ebay.(though most are used)

BTW, besides gamecube only screens, are there any high quality lcd screens or small normal tvs that cost under $200 retail?(and preferrably under $100 on ebay?)

First off i was in your same situation i looked up everything about LCD screens and researched my ass off.

I have the Intec screen and i would say it has fully satisfied me, and is prolly better than any other U.S lcd screens.  The only thing i dont like about it is that since it is a mini screen some games are plain out not right for such a small screen such as football games or soccer, almost any other game though it would be fine just stay away from games with a far view.

The Intec Screen u can even buy a GCN battery supply sold separtely so u can have a totally portable GCN.  I would give the screen a 9/10 because it is visually good and if i cant play on a real tv i really dont mind at all playing on the Intec screen at home.

Hope that helps.

Fox5: Wasn't the digital port disabled on PAL machines?

It wasn't disabled, but PAL games can't do progressive scan.(if they use freeloader and an import they can) But even without progressive scan, the digital port offers much better visual quality than the analog port, though that may just be the higher quality signal convertor included in the base of the component cable than the actual use of the digital port.

I was wondering what monitor this is. Based on the car on the box I'd guess Interact(and based on the design of the box I'd say Interact's Performance brand) but it looks nothing like Interact's monitor.
