WWE Day Of Reckoning - Discuss
« on: March 11, 2004, 10:54:37 PM »
Ok People

Ign.com has just done a news piece on the next WWE game. Day Of Reckoning has a very different , more realistic concept when compared to other wrestling games.

I have a few concerns ...If I start a carrer with the Rock or Austin does that mean I would have to go threw the Amatuer leagues ? ...I mean story mode should only be for Create a Wrestlers , or there should be a complete different story side for already established wrestlers.

Also Ign mention 40+ wrestlers ...which is quite low ...Im wanting 70+ ...40 isnt very much , that number is most likley an estimate but ...just something that caugt my eye.

Anyway ...Discuss.

P.S - The concerns/question arent able to be answered yet ... I know no info is out yet ( other than IGNs info ) ...Discuss my concerns ...what do you think they will do ?

Well, Rick and Jonny are there, hopefully they'll have something up soon.

but if you wanted to take an established wrestler through a story mode and wanted to skip the preliminary stuff, i dont think it would be as fun and long. I like it better the way you gotta crawl out from the gutters and make a name for yourself and start at the bottom of the barrel and work your way up. At least we are getting a real story mode this time, we should be happy! I have only owned two wrestling games and that was on the N64 and NES, but if this turns out pretty good i may have to get it!

Direct feed vids are up at IGN.com , also a hands on with the game. They seemed to have really liked it.

I agree with you , but 2 modes are better then 1 ...true ?

Hmmmmmm.....I've been wanting to get a wrestling game for GC, but was put-off by the last 2.  Dunno why.

But I'll give Day Of Reckoning a good look this time around.  3rd time a charm?
I'll await for your impressions Rick!

Sounds pretty good from those impressions... but then so did Wrestlemania XIX last year when IGN previewed it, and that turned out to be pretty damn average compared to the last Smackdown game.

I guess we'll see soon enough.

Yeah but this year there seems to be more promise ...and Rick also seems pretty impressed.

There is a major concept behind this, and if they take thier time and add a little attitude to it then we have our selves a winner.

Rick mind if I ask you a little question ? ...I know there are no commentators in this game but do you know if there are any scenes where Austin/Rock come out and cut promos ?

If they have the "Surprise Box Attacks" from the RAW Xbox game, I will be very happy  ^___________^

Akdaman: You played the Xbox WWE games? There was an option for your character to "interfere" in an opponents match (among others), and with the move to more character development this time around, I would almost expect to see some sort of feuding options.

Please god (Rick Powers) o please say i didnt just waste my money and now have to buy this game too.

No, nothing like that was shown, but that doesn't mean that something similar won't be included.  Simply too early to tell.

And commentary is NOT off the table yet, apparently ...

That option would be awesome.  I surprise attacks!

In that case, I hope someone pushes it off very soon. I still have nightmares about the commentary in the last Smackdown game I played.

I doubt they'll put commentary in, at least i hope not.
This game is due out for September, so you have quite a long time till it comes out.
Hopefully there will be more than 40 wrestlers as that number just seems so low.
Create-a-wrestler should be much more enhanced now.
Might actually pick this one up.

Why is 40 wrestlers low? Soul Calibur 2 has about 20 characers and nobody's complaining.

because the WWE has like 100 under contract.

Personally I am waiting for the next game with Scott Hall in it. He was the bright spot in X8 and the main reason I did not like XIX as much was he as not in it.

I wonder what ever happened to the TNA game that EA was supposed to be making
