Topic: PGC, what the heck is up with the ads?

Also mention that it's rather stupid to be showing Xbox ads on PGC.  Just a suggestion......

No, our ad servers can show whatever they want as long as it's not obscene.  That's why we didn't take any action with regards to the Republican National Committee ads that a few people complained about.  We aren't supporting these companies and organizations, they are supporting us.  That's what advertising is all about.

Actually, Xbox ads are great.  Many people have multiple consoles, including many of us at PGC.  Any gaming related ads are perfectly logical.

I think KN's point was that Gamecube ads would be MORE logical- they'd at least know that they're reaching every PGC reader rather than just the group that owns an XBox as well. In any case, I doubt any ad really makes much of a difference since so few people click them anyway.

Well, really, we get all our GCN news from the site.  This site is sort of one big GCN ad.  Neat to see what else is out there at the same time.

That's a good point, but a lot of people are very close minded, so you're more assured you're advertising to the right person if you run Gamecube ads- running XBox ads will only attract those who either own an XBox or are open minded enough to think about owning an XBox. Like I said, though, I doubt it makes a lick of difference to PGC what the ad is, as long as it's not offensive.
