SERIOUS TV Problem
« on: January 16, 2004, 07:39:43 PM »
My TV, plain and simple, won't display any picture. It has no problem with sound, but it will not display any video whatsoever. I have my satellite reciever and all of my consoles hooked up to my TV through an A/V switchbox using S-video cables, although that shouldn't matter because I have the same problem when things are directly hooked up to my TV. Neither the S-video cable nor the RCA video cable work, although for some reason when I disconnect an S-video cable, everything goes out, including the sound. Does ANYONE have any idea as to what my problem is? I really don't want to have to buy a new TV- it's a 20" flatscreen.

::EDIT::
Well, don't ask me how, but I fixed it. All I really did was take my TV off its stand and put it on my bed some 3 feet away, then moved it back and amazingly it started working again!

Okay, here's what you do.  Rip all the guts out and knock out the screen.  Then invite many friends over for a fun weekend puppet show.

Seriously, I'm almost mad enough to do that- don't encourage the thought. When you get home and turn on your TV, it shouldn't not work!

on a slightly less serious note, my tv is also playing up, the bottom right corner has started to go greeny, any idea how to degaus (for lack of a better word) my tv? it's happened to a few tv's i've owned, but this one is less than a year old :\

Zoidberg: I talked to a friend of mine about your problem and he said you have to buy a professional television degausser. II'm not quite sure where you can get one, but I don't think there that expensive (~$10-20 USD). You can also call some electronic stores and ask if they can degauss the TV for you.

Well Mouse, I think I'm being paid back for teasing you about your tv problem.   The buttons on my vcr are stuck and will not allow me to change the channel, or turn it off or on.  The last channel our tv was on is Fox, which means I am currently trapped watching Cops.

actually if you move your tv to the right while its on the green on the corner could go away

the earth is electromagnetic and so is your tv....

No, not Fox! Not the network run by retarded monkeys! No one deserves that!

All because we moved our TV's, and ThePerm told me that yesterday! Perm, you're a genius.
