Luigi's Mansion worth it?
« on: January 09, 2004, 07:17:34 PM »
I'm thinking about picking up Luigi's Mansion.  I wouldn't pay anymore than $20 for it.  I hear the game is so short and doesn't really provide much of a challenge, yet it's still fun while it lasts.

I would rent it but I usually dont have much time to play games all at once with work and all.  So should I pick this game up?

"What game should I get?" thread

But to not completely sound like an ass, yes, the game is very much worth 20 dollars...

"yet it's still fun while it lasts".

Yep, that sounds like a good reason to buy a video game. That's what Nintendo's been trying to drum into the consumer's heads for ages.

The game is amazing. You won't put 120 hours into it but you'll love the graphic detail and will be playing with a big smile on your face the whole time. Once you've finished that one, go get Wario World for the same reasons.

Indeed, the game isn't as bad as it's made out to be.  It's clean, simple fun.  While it won't keep you occupied for weeks, it's still fun the first couple of times through, and it's perfect if you want to waste some time but don't have any friends around for Smash Bros..

The game's graphics are also some of the nicest on the system.  The lighting effects are better than Splinter Cell's, and the effects in it are amazing.  Cloth physics are also very nice (again, better than Splinter Cell's), but texture detail takes a hit in a few places here and there, but it really isn't noticable.

So yeah, if the price is right, then go for it.  It may not be your cup of tea, so to speak, but at least it'll keep you playing until the end.
