Resident Evil boxset: any chance?
« on: August 17, 2003, 06:55:38 AM »
Hello everyone!

I hope this wasn't posted before.
I was wondering if Capcom will release a Resident Evil boxset with all the games (RE0, RE1, RE2, RE3 and RE Code Veronica X) like they did in Japan.
That'd be nice, even though I already have the RE0 and RE1. That's also why I didn't get the RE2 & 3 ports yet.
Here's what the Japanese boxset looks like
Anyone?
Thanks!

i think the sales were pretty low for the re box set in japan
the best bet i would have would be that if a box set was made for other countries, you would have to order it specially from capcom's online store- it would be too expensive for capcom to ship too many to stores and not have them sell
i call the big one bitey.

I would personally pick up the box set from Japan.  All the voice acting is in English, so it's not like you wouldn't be able to do stuff.
Once I had, a little game
I liked to crawl back into my brain
I think you know the game I mean

The Resident Evil Boxset or Biohazard in Japan looks cool, and it also has the Wesker report included. I thought about the same thing, why not sell an American Version but if they don't I can always pick up the import.

Yeah, you should import The Biohazard Box Set from Japan.

Like Grey Ninja stated, the dialogue in cut-scenes are all English spoken with Japanese subtitles... but the only downfall is that the diaries/letters will be in Japanese.
Same with when you examine something... but nevertheless, its a great collectable to have as it also has different Camera Angles.

From what I know, there will be no Resident Evil Box Set to be released... but I could be wrong.
I have e-mailed Capcom about this just to clear it up... and I will reply when they inform me of whats happening.

Personally... I'm getting the Biohazard Box Set & Biohazard 4... as well as the Resident Evil Versions.

Yeah I know about the English dubbing, I used to buy the RE in Japanese back in the days in the PS1.
I'm still unsure about the BH box set, because I picked up RE 2 & 3 for 50 bucks online (brand new!) and RE: Code Veronica X too.
So maybe if I can find the box set for a very interesting price...
Keep us informed about the Capcom email! thanks!

If Resident Evil was a series of movies then a boxed set would be a no brainer.  We would have already seen one release on the PSX years ago and then another one of the Dreamcast.  However because they're games I don't see it happening any time soon.  First of all games are more expensive than movies so such a set would cost a lot.  Secondly the North American audience isn't used to the idea of boxed sets or special editions for games so a major boxed set like this probably wouldn't be that popular.  In order for gaming boxed sets to become established it would have to take a very popular series to break the way.  I don't think RE is popular enough to do that.  Final Fantasy is one of the only game series I can think of that would be able to do it providing it was advertised really well.

There was a Biohazard Box Set sold in Japan like said above... and that is just the Japanese Version of Resident Evil.

By the way, I received the E-Mail Today, and Capcom America said that so far no Resident Evil Box Set has been announced apart from the Biohazard Box Set.

Looks like we are going to have to import it...
