here in Canada, we use duct tape in a situation like this.

lol... something tells me you do know what duck tape is.

And yes, I am being serious.  Duck tape is the solution to many problems, and this is one of them.  That goes double if you are Canadian.

Heh.  Yeah, you got me.  I was indeed teasing y'all by misspelling it.  But I am still being serious.

The GameCube doesn't care if your open button is permanently pressed down or not.  Y'all can easily play a game, as long as y'all keep the cover closed.  The Canadian solution would be to duct tape the lid closed, but y'all can just as easily grab a book or something and keep it closed that way too.

Well, if ya'll really want to fix it without duct tape (SINNER!), then the obvious thing to do is to take the GameCube apart, and fix it from within.  That is difficult to do though, as special tools are required, and it might void your warranty.  It might be a good time to contact a Nintendo Repair center.

Or I would just try poking it with a stick.  That's also fun to do.

Knowing Nintendo's customer service, they'll probably do something like give you a brand new Platinum Gamecube and clean and polish all your accessories.

Duct Tape is indeed the solution to life's many problems including broken Gamecubes, alcoholism, and the common cold.  If you've never heard of Duct Tape you are indeed a sinner and should be immediatly sent to the firey depths of the underworld.  Or you could be sent to Canada.  Both are about the same.
