Island of Monster - New GC exclusive from SEGA
« on: September 02, 2003, 03:38:22 AM »
Looky!

Looks interesting. This is most likely one of the "unannounced GC games" from SEGA.

"Island of Monster uses "Teddy" technology, which you might have seen in Magic Pengel. You can draw and make your 3D monsters. "

Ooooh, aaaaah.

Virtua Fighter Quest was confirmed to be at TGS wasnt it? It was on "the list" not as an unannounced title, but as Virtua Fighter Quest. Expect it to be there.

When is TGS by the way?  Oh and that game looks like its goin to be a mix of animal crossing and pokemon with some custom monsters, which sounds like a good mix in my book lol.

nah, it's only kiddy when it comes from Nintendo.  When Sega makes a game, it's "cool".

Might not bee Kiddy, but certainly a Ho Hum game... A niche title. Couldnt Sega have given is a Fighting Vipers sequel for the Cube instead?

I'm fine with these niche games, its what I expect when I get a nintendo console.  If I wanted a fightin game in the vain of fighting vipers, I'd get a ps2 or an xbox (which I do have lol) but these niche games is why I am a fan of nintendo.  I'm always up to try these type of games.  Look at animal crossing, that game looked stranged but IMO its a classic, it gave me that special feeling that I havent gotten since the old nes days.  Hopefully this game will be somethin special and not just a gimmicy game.

i read The creatures, and the technology that generates them via the Kaiju editor, was actually developed at Japan's Tokyo University. Sega licensed the exclusive videogame rights to the technology and are delivering to the gaming screen it in the form of a GameCube title.

so if they have it exclusive how was this already in magic pengel?
this sounds like it's more advanced than magic pengel's drawing program.

The main character has blue hair, so it's already a hit with me. ^_^

The "Teddy" is a Java-based simplified 3D-modeling application. It was up for testing at the Tokyo Uni servers some time ago (I believe it still is). It's also used in the 3D-object search of the MIT, but the Teddy itself is pretty confusing and it's hard to get good results with it. BTW, first screenshots of a game using it were published at the same time as the software itself. If this ggame can interface with the PC, I'll probably use the Blender as Teddy saves in Maya OBJ format.
