Midway Arcade Treasures Brings More Than 20 Classic Arcade Games Including All-Time Favorites Like Spy Hunter, Defender, Gauntlet and Joust for First Time Ever on Next-Generation Consoles

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 2003-- Midway Games Inc., a leading software industry publisher and developer, announced today that it will make Midway® Arcade Treasures(TM), the first next-generation console offering of more than 20 classic arcade games, available for hands-on demonstrations at the 2003 Classic Gaming Expo. Midway Arcade Treasures is scheduled to ship in fall 2003.

Midway Arcade Treasures features hundreds of hours of classic gameplay action from all-time arcade favorites including the fast-paced action of Spy Hunter®, the multiplayer collaboration of Gauntlet®, the space-age adventure of Defender® and the dueling combat of Joust®, just to name a few.

Yet the question remains unanswered...Will these be ports from the original arcade versions or the NES versions?

I just got back from the Expo, and I am pleased to report that not only are these arcade perfect emulations, but the 4-player games will be will retain their 4-playerability (okay, so that's not a word....SUE ME!).   Good deals up in there!  I met the All-Time Ms. Pac Man Champ and the Robotron 2004 Champ.  I was schooling fools with my Bison on SFII Championship Edition untill an editor from Tips and Tricks Mag blew me out with Zangief...sheez!  I bought a 25-in-1 Intellivision set for 25 bucks, a poster autographed by 8 or so Intellevision designers/programmers for 10 bucks, a TurboGraphx-16 with Legendary Axe for 25 bucks, and, the coup de grace, a Vectrex system with Multi-cart for 150!  I was in that piece from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m.  Whadda day!  I almost bought a Super Dodge Ball JAMMA cart for 15 bucks.
