Some important items in Pokémon Sun and Moon have a deadline for acquisition.

A new serial code was released recently for Sun and Moon that gives the Mega Stones for evolving Ampharos, Altaria, Latias and Latios. No end dates had been given for previous serial codes, but the new code and all previous ones have been updated with an end time of November 1, 8:59 JST (October 31 in North America/Europe). All other Mega Stones can be obtained through normal play. It is not known how, or if, the affected Mega Stones will be given in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

The final list of serial codes, entered on the Mystery Gift option ingame, is:

• M2DESCENT (Mewtwo: code gives Mewtwonite X and Y)
• INTIMIDATE (Mawile, Beedrill, Audino, Medicham)
• AZUL (Pidgeot, Steelix, Heracross, Houndoom)
• MATSUBUSA (Sceptile, Blaziken, Swampert, Camerupt, Banette)
• SABLEVOLANT (Tyranitar, Abomasnow, Manectric, Aggron)
• POYONG (Gardevoir, Gallade, Lopunny, Diancie)

I actually think that this was the wrong way to go about distributing these stones.

That being said, I dislike Mega Evolution as a whole, so... I can't say I'm wholly broken up here.

I'm annoyed that they just didn't make all the Mega Stones available from the start. Mega Evolutions are central to the competitive metagame and it really sucks when you're teambuilding and realize that the Mega you want on your team doesn't have its stone available. I ran into this problem months ago when I was building a team around Dragon Dance Mega Tyranitar, only to find that Tyranitar's stone wasn't released.
