Get ready to run, slash and slay Norse beasts

Nintendo's Damon Baker appeared on a segment of Geoff Keighley's Youtube Live @ E3 to help make some indie game announcement.

  • Previously revealed by an Amazon listing, 13AMGames confirmed that Runbow would not only come to New 3DS as Runbow Pocket but the 3DS and Wii U versions would receive retail releases. The New 3DS version will include StreetPass functionality for Bowhemoth times and favorite setups plus a Runbow 3DS theme, plus Shantae will be added as a guest runner. The retail releases, published by Nighthawk Interactive, will include the game's soundtrack
  • A trailer at the end of the segment showed previous PlayStation Vita exclusive Severed coming to Wii U and 3DS this summer as a crossbuy release. Severed, developed by Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition developers Drinkbox Studios, is a heavily touch-screen based slashing adventure game. Check out the trailer below:
  • Brief snippets of Jotun and Axiom Verge for Wii U were also shown, with both titles currently targeting summer release for Wii U.

I really like Runbow.  I really like buying physical copies when they are available.  But I've already (quite recently) gone out of my way to buy the game on the Wii U eShop in order to support the developer... so much like the Shantae physical release, this news pretty much doesn't matter to me.

That said, the 3DS release might convince me to buy if it's got some unique content to make it worthwhile.  A portable version might be different enough to justify a purchase... although being New 3DS exclusive and (probably) lacking multiplayer aren't really selling points.
