Here is the link for the Miyamoto interview about GTA.  When asked if he would make games like GTA, Miyamoto said
Quote

Personally, as a game creator, I still think that the idea of family-oriented games, a games that span all ages and include everyone from young adults to adults and senior citizens ... There are still a lot of games that are waiting to be made of that market.

Mouse_clicker, never once did I say that Miyamoto specifically stated that he didn't like the game.  I read the entire interview before and made that conclusion on my own.

Wasn't that a multiplayer demo?  Because that sounds a lot like the multiplayer from StarFox 64.

Uh that's nothing like the multiplayer from Starfox 64, Starfox 64 only had planes with 2 evasive maneuvers, 1 weapon, and a bomb...

but yes, it was from multiplayer mode.  I have a feeling such features will be implemented in 1 player mode as well, regarding Starfox GC.

I hope ED2 is the game that is chosen to be the open-ended one. Or maybe even Too Human as well.
The thing is, the scale of ED isn't really that apparent, despite the claims to be epic. Large open areas of people fighting the Ancients would be cool.
Maybe the next game could be based around the Ancients have gone aboveground and started to take over the world, despite Pious' failure to bring back one of the Gods.

I haven't played ED alot, but isn't it about puzzles and exploring, and environments inside buildings mostly?  If it had large open areas of people fighting the ancients wouldn't that make it more like Lord of the Rings 2T, or Chaos Legion?  I don't want that for ED 2.

Mario, the reason I used that specific interview is because that is the interview in which he praises GTA for its open gameplay

I have looked at Grand Theft Auto. The basic concept was very well done. Regardless of what the content of the game was, the level of freedom that you had in that one big city was a very good idea. Obviously it has gotten a lot of press because of the moral issues; but even aside from that, the game was done in such a way that gives it great gameplay. I think that is the reason that Grand Theft Auto is selling.
I just found the one that was most related to the topic.

joeamis, in case you didn't know, that level was multiplayer.  Not to imply that the single player will not offer freedom.  It could.  Plus, that much freedom in a multiplayer mode is also very good as well.

As for a GTA clone, though I probably wouldn't turn from Nintendo, I doubt it will happen and if it did, I probably wouldn't buy it.
