Adapter to use X-box controller on Gamecube?
« on: July 21, 2003, 09:20:05 AM »
I've been looking for these everywhere and no luck.  All I've found so far is ps2 to gamecube ps2 to X-box.
I was wondering if anyone has happened to come accross an x-box to gamecube controller adapter.
If so, please let me know

Thankyou,

Mike

basically fo Soul Calibur II
My freind is getting it for xbox and since he has a 52" HDTV well most likely be playing it there all the time.
I don't want the disadvantage of practicing at home with a different controller than I will be competing with since I will be buying it for gamecube
anyway, that's my main reason

Just duct tape a concrete block to the bottom of the gamecube controller and add some non-reachable buttons. You'll be fine.
And if your picky, super-glue a green golf ball with the letter X to the top of it.

LOL

How hard is it to adjust to a MUCH better controller?  I play Madden over my friends, and they insist on the PS2 version.  But when we're here at my place, i use GC.  I dont find it too hard to tell you the truth.  I'd just try playing with both, and eventually you'll be fine.,..

Cut the guy some slack, button layouts etc. are important for fighting games.

The GCN controller is my all time favorite controller. You couldnt pay me to plug in a PS2 or XBox controller into my cube. Everything just feels so nice with the GCN controller. My XBox controller is too big, too heavy, too awkward. If I could I would get an adapter to plug my GCN controller into an XBox, but then again I play my XBox so inoften that it wouldnt be worth it to even bother.

You should try the Xbox Controller-S it's about the same size as the PS2 and GCN controllers. Although it's barely changed the button layout is more convenient.

look for a GCN to Xbawx adapter, then get a hori digital pad, that would be the best idea i think.

but then the adapter could very well not exist

sure GCN controller is great for 3d games but the D-pad isn't all that.  Every try playing MKDA with it?  The D-pad is so small you always end up tapping more than one way...for example right + up instead of just right.
Anyway, I'll just have to suck it up cause I've looked everywhere
For some reason everything is PS2 to Xbox/gamecube and not the other wy around

If you really want to spend money on somethin' like this, you should import that SC2 Fighting Stick. I don't know if it works with the XBox though. You could get an X-Arcade stick and both adaptors for a couple hundred bucks.

Have you even played Soul Calibur II GCN?

And as far as the D-Pad is concerned, I used it plenty in Bloody Roar: Primal Fury without problems.

Soul Cailiber was designed for JOYSTICKS.......i mean its actually more difficult to pull of intricate moves with the d-pad...i tried the d-pad in the dreamcast version and i got owned...with the joystick i realised the game is based around throwing around thre weight of your weopon...the only way to really meaure how your weight is thrown is by anolog means...like a jopystick.

The XBox's pad is worse, all wavy. THe Gamecube's pad isn't all that pad- it takes a while to get used to, but you eventually do. Did anyone complain about the D-pad being too small on the GBA when Street Fighter was released?

mikey25nnj, i haven't seen an Xbox to GC adapter. GC seems to have the worst support from third parties when it comes to these kinds of adapters. If you're really serious, take WesDawg's suggestion and get an X-Arcade. i hate playing SCII on the GC pad; it's just really ill-suited for fighters, especially compared to the competition's pads. i'm partial to sticks myself; nothing else gives you the instantaneous access you need to all of your buttons.
