Well, from everything I've read here lately it looks like Nintendo is definitely planning on releasing a new Game Boy to compete with Sony's new hand held. I figured this would be a good time to make a wish list of what everyone would like to see on the next Nintendo hand held.
For one thing it needs to be back lighted not front. It would be really nice if they could use Kodak's new OLED screens. You can read about them by clicking
here. Hell, they even use a mock up of a GBA to give an example of how the OLED screens can be used. They also have low power consumption and Nintendo said that one of their two requirements for the next Game Boy's screen is that it uses less or equal power than the SP screen. This would simply put be the best possible screen they could go with. The only problem is is how expensive are these things and would Nintendo deem it to expensive considering they like to keep their handhelds under $100?
There needs to be four face buttons like the SNES controller.
They should keep the clam shell foldabitilty of the SP as it provides some nice screen protection and makes it more portable.
Make it wide like the GBA but more ergonomically designed. The width of the GBA is nice but it still isn't all that comfortable. I'm thinking of something like a SNES controller with a screen in the middle of it.
Make sure there's a separate head phone jack.
As far as the technical side all I can say is make sure the sound system is a much better.
Keep the battery set up the SP has.
Of course make sure it's backwards compatible.
EDIT: one thing I forgot about is they need to make the cover screen more scratch resistant.
