Question on Mario Kart scoring
« on: November 15, 2005, 08:00:15 PM »
Does it count each race you play as a win or a loss, or does it count a cup that you play?  I have a router that is trash that likes to disconnect, so I haven't played more then 3 races in a row to even know if it is a cup (4 races) that is even played.  Does anybody know?

Also, how do you check your own record?  I know everybodies record I play against, but I don't know my own.

it appears that it only counts a full cup -- I just realized that there are FULL CUPS.  I thought I just kept playing with the same group until one of us got bored.  Also, to check your own, go to the records screen in the main menu.  Right there on the top screen you'll see your total wins/losses.

Actually, I just found that about my own scores.  But, I have 2 losses, and haven't finished a cup...  I'm confused.  Anyway, it was fun playing you what we did play.  ;-)

Hah, I like the way it doesn't count ties...

According to my records, I'm 7-0... when I'm actually like 7-0-4...

Two of those ties are mine.

It's a shame it doesn't count coming in 2nd, 3rd or 4th...

Now my stats have changed.  It now tells me I have 1 loss..  Umm?  Ideas?  I did the same thing, just checked it a few hours later.  This is weird.

@ Matt: Have you played any off-line multi? Coz those races (even single cart) are counted in your records.

I've noticed that my record seems a little off too. I'm currently 25-5, but I'm pretty sure I haven't played 30 matches yet... I would say 20 at most. I think the number of losses is correct, but my wins seem very inflated.

EDIT: Now I'm 28-5. I played one match since I was 25-5. Yeeeah...

Um, you get wins on how many people you've raced...Thus, if you are in a 4-way race and come in first you get 3 wins...If you come in second you get 2 wins and 1 loss...Get it?

Yes, that makes much more sense... thank you. I seriously felt like I was profiting from technical errors or something. Now I don't feel nearly as bad about my 41-5 record

I assume losses are counted the same way then, right?  Getting 4th nets 3 losses?  It seems to be on a per race basis, and not full cup as well.

Guys I still don't have any losses.....

I almost want to get my first one so that I don't have to stress about my undefeated record...

32-0!

I've had so many races I should have lost, specifically to Uncle Bob and TYP, but each time I've managed to luck out a tie.

Meh, more scoring weirdness. My record was something like 114-13 prior to my most recent match. During this match, one person dropped out after the second race, a second dropped out during the last race, and the third guy dropped out after he finished the last race, but before the results screen... even though we would have tied for first. I went to my records to see if it counted anything for me, and my record is now 116-10. It removed 3 losses from my record.
