Details of Super Mario Maker Level Sharing Revealed

Never fear, we've got social features for days.

In order to prevent fully impossible levels from being uploaded, creators in Super Mario Maker have to prove they can beat the level first before uploading it to the network for other players to attempt. This information comes from a recent Treehouse Live demo Nintendo held at E3, where they revealed additional details about the upcoming game's online functionality and sharing features.

It appears that based on how many people complete the level, the difficulty can be dynamically adjusted to be easier or harder as well. Level creators will also get play counts for their levels at any time. And when searching for levels, you can narrow the search down by difficulty, time uploaded or location, as well as grabbing Nintendo-featured levels or newer, "up and coming" levels. Players will also see the clear rate, grab a pictorial overview of the course, and leave comments + see where people die during the levels. Comments can be toggled off or just left on the TV if you're playing with off-TV play on the Gamepad.

Should you like the work of a particular creator, you'll be able to follow them in-game and automatically see when they upload new levels.

I like being able to search by difficulty and get a preview.  I was concerned about how N would handle the online, but this is all great news. ^_^

What i would have liked is having stupid amounts of levels already on disc when you buy the game, something like 100 or something.

They already said they will include NWC levels and some prebaked assets from booklets, now they only need to add more.

Overall a novel idea that I like.  That said, the only reason this is an issue is because once you've seen a level being played (or in this case, you making the level), you know the solution.

There's a difference between difficult & completely obtuse level design.  I'm more concerned about there being an incredible amount of levels made which are difficult not due to challenge, but due to people not knowing how to make challenging levels that don't require some incredibly obtuse solution that only the person who made it would bother to guess.

Hopefully there's a user rating system on-top of the difficulty system mentioned.  I know user ratings aren't the most reliable indicators of quality, but If there isn't one, every time I pull up a "difficult" level to play, i'm going to wonder if i'm pulling up a legit difficult level, or a garbage level that only the creator would bother to figure out.
