Mario Golf: World Tour, the new 3DS golf game from Camelot, will release in North America May 2.

Mr. Iwata's presentation in the Nintendo Direct showed off a variety of online and offline game functionality. The game will include online competition for players all around the world, and include the ability to have tournaments. It will also bring back the Communities feature from Mario Kart 7 that will allow groups to customize how they play.

They also showed the Castle Club single player mode, which has you playing as your Mii and customizing your equipment and abilities, reminiscent of similar modes in earlier handheld Mario Sports games.

Barring them screwing the game up royaly, this is a strong GOTY contender for me.

The single-player mode made me very happy to see. Glad it won't be as empty of a solo experience like it was in Mario Tennis Open.
