Any notion that the two competing theories are even REMOTELY compatible is utter hogwash. Those wishing to reconcile the two are simply living in a fantasy land where compromise is always the answer. Unfortunately, in the real world, that isn't always the correct path to truth.
Frankly, if you look at the underlying data that supports the new theory, you'll notice that it only focuses on special cases, and is severely limited. Hell, the theory itself looks like it was written purely to be contrarian to old one. It's as if a new generation of researchers are acting out of spite because they didn't think of it first. Honestly, such theories only stand the test of time for one reason: that they are, at their core, correct and true and founded in science.
