Nintendo x Joysound Wii Karaoke U, the free karaoke application on the Wii U in Japan, has received an update in Japan that adds new costumes for Mii characters and allows for off-screen play on the Wii U GamePad. The most recent update to the application also made small fixes to the game, such as correcting display lag for songs.

Wii Karaoke U is free to download on Wii U consoles in Japan, but implements a pay-to-play service for the songs. Players can have karaoke on their Wii U after purchasing tiered pricing tickets for the service, starting at 100 yen for 24 hours of karaoke and going all the way up to 2,000 yen for 90 days.
