Zen Pinball 2 won't be hitting the Wii U eShop until January, according to developer Zen Studios.

Originally slated for a December release in both North America and Europe, the pinball game, which currently has two releases on the 3DS eShop, is getting pushed back slightly.

Unlike the 3DS version, Zen Pinball 2 will take cues from the other downloadable versions of the game. The game is a free download, and players can try free trials of tables and then buy them separately.

It is currently unknown what tables will launch with Zen Pinball 2 on Wii U, but Zen Studios has shown off assets from the game from their Marvel tables.

I remember playing Zen Pinball 1 from the PlayStation Network on PS3.  When I get the Wii U back this Thursday, I'll look forward getting the sequel and purchasing tables... especially from the Marvel universe.
