Hey i need help on Animal Crossing.  Does anyone no what a pitfall does?

you bury it and when somebody (or you) walks over it you fall into a hole (hence the name "pitfall")  don't worry, you eventually get out.

Oh! So that's why sometimes I fall into the x's on the ground and sometimes I don't! Thanks a lot! I've been wondering that for a while.
