Tennis Added as a Club Nintendo Reward
« on: August 27, 2012, 05:07:22 PM »

Bikes are out! Game Boy Tennis is in!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/31436

The Game Boy version of Tennis, available on the 3DS Virtual Console, is now a Club Nintendo Award. The game replaced 3D Classics Excitebike. Club Nintendo members can download the title for 150 coins while non-members can still download the title for $2.99 on eShop.

Tennis was one of the first games released for the the Game Boy in 1989, and is a port of the NES version, which also came out near the start of that console.

Tennis will be an available award until September 9, 2012. NES Play Action Football is the other available Club Nintendo reward until it gets replaced on September 2.

Uh... 150 for Tennis? Pass. I don't care if it's some sort of US Open tie-in, still not worth the cost.

Does anyone actually have any interest in these old sports games? They have always seemed like the kind of games where there's no reason to play old versions as the new ones are the same thing except much better.

The price of the Club Nintendo games has been way too frequently 150 instead of 100. And I'm sorry these super old sports games should be 100... at most.

Pass, I have Mario Tennis for 3DS, and that is plenty fun.

I would consider getting nostalgic classics like Tecmo Super Bowl or Blades of Steel.  Punch-Out!! is also still pretty cool even though newer versions are available.  And there was that volleyball game that had good buzz but I never got to try... can't recall the name

Outside of those exceptions, I don't understand the point in releasing old sports games either.  Maybe there is an audience who really wants to relive the old sports experience?
