Most of the names they come up with are Japanese or come from a different country anyways. SO it wouldn't be that weird naming your kid after them. Yes, Saria would be a great name for a little girl. Malon... sorta sounds like a chunky ugly kid.. melon. At least Saria would make someone think of a cute chick after just hearing the name. Hey... I bet ya that it would be cool if you got your little girl into Zelda, (BTW that's a good name too) and gave her elf ears through plastic surgery to make her look like Saria!

As for a guy, I'm more into RPG characters names. So I don't think that I could come with anything better than Link. Heh heh, how about Dr. Mario? LoL!

Guys, come on. I love video games as much as the next guy, but none of you are serious, are you? This child would be tortured in school if you named him after a recognizable video game character. When you guys are saying "Link is actually a good name" and "I think Samus is good", you're joking right?

BTW Kirby is a real name, so that kid wouldn't get as beat up as if he were named "Pikachu".

The only way anyone should name their kid after a video game character is if it;s a normal name (or not so normal, like, Zelda. It isn't really normal, but it's real.).

I don't think I'd name a son or daughter after Nintendo games.  However, my kids and I named our cat "Zelda".  Our beagle puppy is "Frodo".

I know a kid named Kirby, and it really doesn't stick out that he has the same name as a famous blob of what looks like bubble gum.

Thank you Grey Ninja for those pronunciations it helps alot. Also I recently got Ender's Game on tape(a awesome novel go read it!) and when I heard Petra I immediately thought of Tetra from WW. Tetra's a cool name too. And one more thing. Mace, as in Mace Windu from Star Wars, it isn't Nintendo but it's still a cool name.

Actually, Mace is a nintendo name to a degree.  Nintendo have used Mace Windu in the Clone Wars.  Still, I don't think that it would make it a full fledged nintendo name though.  But nintendo have used it.

I honestly intend to name my cat Shigeru and call it Shiggy.  As for Nintendo character names, I think Saria, Mario, Kirby, Zelda, and Professor E. Gadds aren't bad.  They're normal enough not to be picked on, but they're still Ninty character names.  Yeah, I'm kidding about the last one.

Samus Aran, Tetra, Malon, and Xavier are all cool names, but I wouldn't name my kids that.  Except maybe Xavier, but that isn't a Nintendo name anyway. . .

the only name i can see getting away with for a boy would be "Red" from pokemon. Also its pretty interesting seeing people who I've never seen before in this thread, It's a nice time capsule. I must have been 12 when this thread was actually happening, i think i had just gotten an internet connection around that time.
