Harvest Moon: A New Beginning will be coming to 3DS in North America by the end of 2012, as reported by a recent press release from Natsume.

The focus of A New Beginning lies in customization; for the first time in series history, players can customize their appearance as well as their farm. Outfits, facial expression, gender, skin color, hairstyle, and more can be customized.

The upcoming title marks the 15th anniversary of the Harvest Moon series in North America, as well as a general celebration of the series by Natsume throughout E3 and the rest of the year.

This game came out in Japan in February 2012.

Is anybody excited for this? I know we should be seeing it at E3...

I like the series, but with Animal Crossing 3DS coming out at the end of the year, I don't really have a reason to play it.

I am also excited for this. I wasn't a huge fan of the previous 3DS Harvest Moon, but this one sounds intriguing. As JD says, though, with Animal Crossing coming, and this game sounding like it does a lot of the things Animal Crossing is promising, with the town customization and all, it may not be the best timing.

That's because this one is actually a 3DS Harvest Moon. The last one was a DS port.

I know that, but that's not what I meant. I didn't really like the structure of that game, regardless of what the lead platform was. From the little I've read of this one, it sounds more like what I want from Harvest Moon. I really want to get my hands on it at E3.

I am perpetually hoping for a bland update of the Harvest Moon series. No touchscreen mini-games, no hokey social interactions (I'm looking at you A Wonderful Life). My favorites are the most vanilla of the series. The original, Harvest Moon 64, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. The GBC ones weren't bad, but they didn't have as much depth. I basically just want updated graphics. If they could add multiplayer elements, like a friend coming to your farm for awhile to help clear your fields that'd be cool too as long as they didn't botch it.

Yeah, I'm with HellsAttack on this one. I keep playing new Harvest Moons in the hope that they recapture the simple and non-complicated charm of HM64.

Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;

For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.
