Has anyone here bought a video game soundtrack?
« on: April 21, 2012, 07:30:03 PM »
These past few months I've been in the mood to listen to some video game music, so I went on iTunes and bought the Sonic Colors, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception soundtracks.

I'm glad that publishers are uploading their game soundtracks on iTunes, though I wish they'd also put them on the Android Market (Google Play) for people who don't own iOS devices.

What video game soundtracks do you have?

Never bought any, but I downloaded the free soundtracks for Mutant Mudds and De Blob 2, and I got the mini one that came with Super Mario All-Stars. The few soundtracks I would like to buy aren't for sale in the US and I don't have any intent to pay extra to import them.

You can copy any music you buy on iTunes to an Android device, or anything else that can play MPEG4 audio. It may not be the smoothest process, but it works.

I don't think it's been officially released for sale, but back when the game came out someone here pointed me toward a download of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl soundtrack, which has some fantastic stuff on it, that I still go back and listen to from time to time. I also have the soundtracks to Ocarina of Time and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which are probably my two favorite game soundtracks ever.

Insano, where was the download for the SSBB sountrack? I loved the music in the game and would really like to have it on my iPod Touch.

I bought a couple that Nintendo Power used to offer in the 90s, and then I've been pirating them ever since. Well, I bought a Pop'N Music CD set once.

I have 110 gigs of mostly game music :faust:

It's almost four years ago at this point, so I don't remember the exact details of it. This wasn't any kind of official release; I'm pretty sure someone just ripped the files off the game disc and converted them to mp3.

Yeah everyone forgets about the awesome soundtrack because it always gets overshadowed by the art design. I love this album because I'm also a big fan of the Yoshida Brothers and the musical styles are pretty similar

I've bought games before in part because they had a soundtrack included, but don't recall actually buying soundtracks separately.  Xenoblade might change that though - really enjoy the music in that game!

I got that too. I'd listen to it more if it wouldn't take up so much of my iTunes. Also, the files I have don't have names on 'em, so that makes it difficult.

I've pirated a couple oldies like Super Metroid, Secret of Mana and Donkey Kong Country 1&2.

The only one I've ever bought was Ocarina of Time.  Good music but the album itself is disappointing.  None of the tracks loop so one song might only be a minute long if there is only one minute of original content.  While accurate from a purist point of view, it doesn't work too well for listening to.

I have (or had) a lot of video game soundtracks. Ripped the tracks from Turok 2 back in the day, and all three DKC games. Currently, I have the Super Mario history album, the Super Mario Galaxy album, the Ocarina of Time and Zelda Anniversary albums, the soundtracks from Super Meat Boy, Shantae, and Dive, and I'm going to get the Mighty Switch Force soundtrack after hearing it on a certain music-centric podcast.

Also just bought the Journey soundtrack. SO GOOD.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

Pirating, eh? Do you pirate your games and movies too?  :@
