Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos developer Monolith Soft is seeking staff for a 3DS project. The studio has opened a recruitment page seeking staff to work on the project out of its newly formed Kyoto studio.

Positions include effect designers, motion designers and 3DCG designers. The 3DCG designers will work on character modeling and 3D map modeling. The effect designers will work on effects for map and battle scenes. The motion designers will work on motion for things like monsters and characters.

This is the second time in the past year that we're hearing about job solicitation from Monolith Soft. The studio previously posted a listing for a Wii U project. The Wii U project is based out of Monolith's main Tokyo office. You can access the Wii U listing here.

I can't say I'm to surprised here.  jRPG's in general have been moving to handhelds being their main console since the GBA.  This news only makes sense.

I enjoyed Baten Kaitos enough back in the day that I would be interested in finding out more.

I am enjoying Xenoblade enough now that I don't care about finding out more - Monolith's next game gets my money thrown at it blindly.

(Edit: And in case that's not explicit enough... this news is WAY more exciting for me than anything announced in the North American Nintendo Direct event the other day.)

Gotta say I'm more excited about this than having them work on a home console.  Sadly lately I just don't invest too much time in long scale rpg's and games on my consoles too much. It's usually either my handheld or my pc.

So hearing this news is pretty exciting for me.

Yup, I think this is true for all of us as we get older and busier.   And love the idea of more JRPG's on 3DS, though I'm a little worried because besides the portability, I loved RPG's on the DS because they were much more in the style of old 16/32 bit RPG's that I loved, with beautiful sprite work.   I really hope that every single 3DS jrpg doesn't go for polygonal graphics.   Never really clicked with those jrpg's, especially all those PS2 jrpgs.   And I really hope Monolith isn't going to regress to Xenosaga.  God I hated Xenosaga and it's German subtitles.

Oh yeah, I know I have 2 sealed copies of that game.   1 is for trading.  But people who collect Amiibos?  They really have a problem!
