play coin glitch?
« on: September 16, 2011, 01:44:53 PM »
Something odd happened today: after having 1 play coin left over last night, I just noticed that my 3DS said 280 coins this afternoon.

After getting my 3DS repaired (well, replaced technically) it arrived back in my hands yesterday. While checking to ensure all system settings were carried over correctly, I noticed that I had a few play coins left over and spent 10 of my 11 coins trying to get a bit further in Find Mii.  Today I didn't do anything meaningful - played with Rytmik Rock Edition for 30 minutes at lunch, checked out the newest games and videos in Nintendo eShop, and carried my system around for a bit. So it was a surprise to see my play coin account with a huge boost!

Has anyone else noticed odd things with play coins?  And now that I've got 'em, what should I use them on? [Edit: 280 coins spent, and now I'm halfway through the final ghost in Find Mii.]

I've noticed the step counter go down in steps once before, but that was the only bug-like thing I've seen. Although if you just got a replacement system, maybe receiving the coins was a part of that.

I wondered that too. It was strange because my coins were normal when it first got back, and then jumped without any reason the next day.

Yes, but nothing odd has happened since that first glitch.  I'm guessing that Mop It Up is right and considering the coins a bonus for having to send in my system. ;D

Did your 3DS console code carry over to the new device?  If not, wondering if existing 3DS friends get some type of data feed update with your new console code.

"No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die."

My code did carry over - a happy surprise. I thought that I would have to start over with friend codes, but there was absolutely no work required. The only change that I've noticed (besides the system working correctly) is that the serial number is different.
