This Week in Europe Downloads - August 18, 2011

A new 3D Classic headlines the week.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/27480

European 3DS owners will have the opportunity this week to download NES "classic" Urban Champion enhanced to take advantage of the system's stereoscopic 3D capabilities. The side-scrolling brawler is available for €5.

There are two DSiWare releases this week. The first is My Asian Farm, from BiP media, a game in which you build up your own farm, starting with just a single hen but eventually expanding to other animals and produce. My Asian Farm costs €2/200 Nintendo DSi Points.

The second DSiWare title is Moto eXtreme, from Chillingo. The game features MotoX biking with huge jumps and stunts. The game features a variety of courses across four worlds, and costs €8/800 Nintendo DSi Points.

Finally, the lone Wii release this week is Flight Control for WiiWare, from Firemint. The game, which was previously released on DSiWare, has you guiding incoming aircraft to a safe landing at a variety of different airport configurations. Flight Control is available for 500 Wii Points.

Disclaimer:  I'm assuming this European Download list will be reflective of a near-future NorAm download schedule.

Why, Nintendo, why do you replace VC releases with 3D classics?  I like the 3D classics, I have all 2 of them and will get this one, but still, would it be horrible to release an old GC or (heaven forbid!) GC color game along with it?  If you consider all the GC, GCC, Turbo16, Gamegear, and (eventually) GBA and NES games they have to draw from, they can give us a new VC title a week for like 15 years, well past the lifetime of the 3DS.

I'm not greedy.  I'm not even asking for 2 or 3 a week.  Just 1.  Consistently.

Oh yeah, I know I have 2 sealed copies of that game.   1 is for trading.  But people who collect Amiibos?  They really have a problem!

It's Urban Champion, do you really want to buy that?

Urban Champion?  Really, that's just irresponsible.  :P:

I'll buy it day and date!  UC wasn't a game with a lot of replay value, but I never knew it was hated until it was announced as a 3D Classic.  The Miyamoto game I would kill to have as a 3D Classic would be Popeye (or even as a regular VC), but I guess there are licensing problems now.

I got Urban Champion on the classic 31-in-1 NES pirate cart, and I instantly demanded a refund.
