CHAPTER ONE: Two siblings, one brain

We used to have brother and sister come in once in a while. They were early-to-mid twenties and apparently lived together. They had a weird incest vibe about them and their distorted facial features gave the impression of inbreeding. That isn't the weird part.

The strange thing is, they both occasionally behaved as if they had mild to mid-level retardation, but not always After they had been in a few times I began to notice a pattern. When the sister would bring the computer up to the counter, she would act fairly normal, talk about her job and describe her computer problems. The brother would hang back like he was a mute and stare at the wall and pick his nose. BUT when the brother would bring the computer to the counter, he would speak normally and be coherrent and the sister would hang back and speak in baby talk with half open eyes.

It's been a few years since I saw them last, but never have I seen them both be intelligent at one time, and never have I seen them both act disabled simultaneously. My theory is they somehow had a psychic link and shared their intelligence between each other, about 150 IQ points. Sometimes the brother would have an IQ of 100 and the sister an IQ of 50. Sometimes vice versa.

The real question is

Does ShyGuy work at Best Buy or at McDonalds?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

CHAPTER TWO: The first murder

Years back, we had a customer named Lester. Lester was an old gay man and a power computer user in the 90s doing things like video chat and CD burning when they were bleeding edge.

Because he did bleeding edge things, he often had computer glitches on Windows 95 and 98. Him and his little silent puffball dog (he had the voicebox removed) would come down in tears and say things the like "this thing never worked right" and we would fix his PC.

Worse was going on a service call to his house. He lived in a big old house on the South Hill and was a landlord on a row of several "apartments" along his street. I say apartments in quotation because they were real slums, only one step above shacks. Inside Lester's house was life partner Frtiz, an angry, angry old German man dying of cancer. Fritz would yell at everyone all the time. and working on Lester's PC while he and Fritz bickered was always a joy.

Fritz passed away and we hadn't seen Lester in a long time. I was called to a service call at his house and he and a young man were there. They were both drunk and Lester called the young man his "nephew" and giggled. I fixed the PC and got out of there as quickly as possible.

A few months later I heard on the radio that Lester had been murdered. I wondered who had killed him, one of the tenants in his slums or one of his "nephews" from out of town. Since his dog had his voice box removed, it couldn't bark and be heard at any intruders.

His other neighbors actually offered a reward to find his killer, stating that the police didn't put any effort into the investigation. As far as I know, his murderer has never been caught.

No.

edit: I was an innocent bystander, and I hadn't seen Lester for months when I heard of his death. The police never questioned me.

And yet you realize the security flaw in owning a dog with no voicebox, and you talk of Lester with disgust and anger.  You didn't like visiting his home for computer repair.  Sounds like motive to me.

Your accusations make me hesitant to post my story, The Second Murder?
