I thoroughly enjoy these articles. They are a wonderful addition to NWR.

Maybe next time someone considers calling a developer "lazy" they can remember this example of being tasked with churning out a game based on a franchise they knew nothing about in six months.

Wow, considering that game looked and sounded gorgeous, I'm amazed it was completed in such a short period of time (especially given that it was a licensed title).  I have a lot of fond memories of playing the SNES version nearly every day back around the Christmas it released, one of my favorite games based on my favorite movie (it's still my favorite animated movie).  Pity there's practically a defacto ban on licensed games on the VC due to the nightmare of negotiating all the licensing rights, because I'd like to have that; Aladdin; and Duck Tales on the VC some day.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

Audio?

The last one had it.  Did you decide to omit it for this one?

"The game old well" I'm guessing there is a missing "s" there.

I loved this game as a kid, great feature!

Nice catch, Toruresu. Went back and edited that.

And Kisaki, as it says at the end of the article, the audio interview will go up on Sunday. It's a good one, so be sure to give it a listen.

Once again, great job on the article.  It's interesting to learn that they had so little to work off for three of their six months: considering that limitation, they certainly did a magnificent job on the parts I actually managed to get to.  I'll never know how they did on the rest of the game though, because those f***ing wildebeests were pure death.

It's also a reminder that a lot of licensed games used to be good. It seems like publishers had a hard time making a good licensed game when they went to 3D.

Assuming that a good 3D game is (usually) more tougher to develop and debug than a traditional 2D game, it shouldn't be a surprise to see 2D games getting being reviews if the short development window is unchanged for both options... either that, or the 3D game becomes considerably more expensive.  Which would you rather play: Dark Void or Dark Void Zero?

I haven't read the interview, but am really looking forward to the audio getting posted.

Hey guys, just wanted to give you a heads up that the audio interview will actually be going up on Saturday and not Sunday from now on. I talked it over with Greg, and it seems a little silly to have two podcasts going up on the same day. We might cross over with the Newscast from time to time, but we can space that out during the day as needed.

Anywho, so look for a new Reset Button podcast, coming this Saturday.

Hesitant to take on such a burden, Castle initially declined, but was   won over after seeing the first five minutes of the film.

Dude the first five minutes made me want to be a lion; the movie is powerful.

I loved renting this game when I was younger but never got far in it. I remember barely ever getting past the second level.

I loved the part where Disney said the wildebeest scene could not be done on the SNES and they were all "But, we've already done it..." Awesome!

I remember having a hard time with the second level I believe. The level with the Elephants tails swinging. I did beat it but it took a while. The Waterfall level was my favorite.

Did Louis Castle really just diss the Ghosts & Goblins series?  This man has earned my eternal ire.   :@
