question about Gamcube and High Def tv.....
« on: April 25, 2003, 11:34:33 AM »
I'm purchasing a 51" hitatchi high def tv and my question is do ANY Gamecube games support high def resolutions (720p, 1080i)?  I see where Metroid Prime and Zelda support progressive scan but nothing about true high def.

Also, anybody know where I can actually FIND component cables for my Gcube??
Give a gamer an inch and he'll want a mile.  Give a gamer a mile and he'll say he remembers when an inch was more than enough.

You have to order component cables online from Nintendo.com.  I don't know about the resolution stuff though.

the gamecube doesn't support resolutions as high as that of a HD tv,
get component video cables from Nintendo directly, or try Ign.com and Gamestop.com
.

If you want to go with third party component cables for GCN, you should be able to pick them up at your local store (it's just Nintendo who doesn't want to sell theirs in stores) and I would recommend Monster Cables.

Monster doesn't make component cables for the GC.

Anyway, supporting those high resolutions would cause a major drop in framerate, so it's really not that bad that the current crop of games don't support anything higher than progressive scan.  I have a 53" panasonic HDTV and I've never had any complaints with graphics.  All Nintendo-published games support progressive scan (and, if you're using the component cables, it automatically defaults to prog scan so you don't need to hold any buttons or anything when the game boots up).
