Were there a lot of messed up ones? Maybe I only went to the essential ones...

There were only a couple that were really bad, thankfully...Of course, if you stopped collecting the metals then it probably didn't affect you all that much...

I was really impressed by Mass Effect, but I don't think it's superior to either of the KOTOR games.  I was put off by the fact that you're able to beat the game before you've completed a majority of the quests.  Before I knew for sure what I was doing, I was on a one-way track to beating the final mission.  And yeah, those texture loading times are irritating.

One thing that bothered me about the game is that you don't REALLY get to name your character.  Bioware is the last great Western RPG developer, and to see them moving towards the path of pre-made protagonists is kind of a downer.  To be fair, though, you do get to select so much of your character's backstory that it helps to make up for what I feel is a limiting flaw

I've been addicted to the game for the past couple of weeks. I'm on my second play-through now. I was a Paragon, now a Renegade. Had alien sex, now trying for human on human action. And working on getting some additional achievements.

The second time around is starting to get lame though. It would seem that the highest weapon class is 'X'. I was at least enjoying seeing what weapons and upgrades were going to pop out. Now I just turn everything into omni-gel. I will have to try the additional storyline before I get too far though.

I still have my copy but I'm thinking about getting the PC version and playing that.

Another thing I prefer about KOTOR was the party available to you.  In either of the KOTOR games, I was constantly torn about which characters I wanted to include in my party (though it was pretty much required that I take HK-47), while in Mass Effect, I take Wrex and Tali simply because I don't like the other characters.  That is, of course, just my opinion and doesn't really speak negatively of the game; others seem to enjoy Mass Effect's cast.

I DO wish you could enlist a Volus into your team, though.

I just started playing this, and I'm... rather confused by it.  There's so much going on, story-wise and control-wise, that I felt completely lost during the first mission.  I had no idea where I was going, and I spent so long trying to jump that I eventually looked through the instruction manual and realized that there's no jumping in this game.  The battle controls seem needlessly complicated - press X to draw the weapon, LT to zoom in, RT to fire, LB to change weapons, RB to use talents - that's too many buttons!

I've felt like such a gaming noob since I got my 360, because every game I've played, except Assassin's Creed, has been really hard for me.  I stopped playing GTA IV because I fail every mission multiple times.  I even had a lot of trouble with Beautiful Katamari.  I've never failed so many levels in a Katamari game before.

Thank goodness for Uno, otherwise I'd feel like a total loser.

I am the only one I know to actually have all the achievements for it and 100% the game over 6 characters. I know this makes me a complete nerd and yes I have over 100 hours logged into it, but I love it. Not to mention the DLC that came out for it. That was 90 more minutes of bliss in that game. I love it.

It takes Diff'rent Strokes to rule the world, yes it does!

Personally, I didn't like that I couldn't make him mad.  He seemed very eager to agree with everything I said, which is fine, if they were trying to make him look sycophantic on purpose.  I might not have picked the right conversation choices to make his personality blossom, though, so it might be my fault.  At any rate, there were times when he was admittedly very interesting, especially during certain sidequests.

About 6 hours in, I began to understand what I was doing and really started to love the game.  I finished it last night, putting in around 28 hours and getting the Completionist achievement.  Definitely my favorite 360 game so far, and perhaps my favorite game of this generation after Mario Galaxy.  There was so much depth in every aspect of this game: the combat, the story, the characters.  Once I got used to how everything worked, I made my way through the main storyline pretty quickly.  I would've finished all the side quests, but I really wanted to see how the story ended, and that's something I rarely feel with a video game anymore.  I don't think I'll start a second playthrough right away, but I can easily see myself playing through this at least two more times.

Well matt, good to know you gave it a good chance and it turns out you liked it. I can completely agree with you. Its definitely my favorite 360 game. Its very in-depth and I bet you'll go through it more than two more times. I have some info for you though since you've changed your mind. If you're extremely interested in the game, there is a book out about by Drew Karpyshyn (if you don't know who he is, he's written two Star Wars books and a Baulder's Gate book as well) called: Mass Effect: Revelation. Its a prequel to the game. And hey, there's a sequel to the game coming soon!

I played it when it came out on 360. But I am now replaying it on PC for my save so I can play ME2 next. I forget how much I liked this game. It's really great and I really can't wait to get to ME2.
