Phoenix Wright Coming to Wii
« on: November 05, 2009, 07:24:02 AM »
The German USK rating system revealed a possible entry in the attorney series.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=20251

A Phoenix Wright title is in works for Wii, according to the German USK rating system.

The series has only been on portables in the past, and this Wii entry would be the first time Phoenix Wright and company would be appearing on a home console.

The Phoenix Wright games are a series of mystery novel games created by Capcom in which players take on the role of defense attorney Phoenix Wright. The goal of each story is to defend your client, investigate the scene of the crime, and interrogate suspects in order to create a strong defense in court.

The series first debuted in Japan on the Game Boy Advance in 2001. It was then ported over to the DS in 2005. The first of these DS ports, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, became the first game in the series to be released in North America and Europe. Since then, three more DS games have been released, the fourth one starring a new defense attorney named Apollo Justice.

Capcom previously brought the High Voltage Software-developed Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law, an attorney-style game in the same vein as the Ace Attorney series, to Wii and PlayStation

It is not known whether it will be a retail release or a WiiWare title, and whether it will be a port of a previous game or a brand new entry.

Discussion regarding this new title is already underway on our forums.

I'm surprised it has taken this long, especially after Harvey Birdman. Didn't realize that was developed at High Voltage.

That was something I noticed over the summer, and I actually added it in during my edits because I think it's a cool little-known fact.

Cool.  I just recently got into the Phoenix Wright series and having a console entry to the series would be pretty sweet... provided it's a new game.

The Harvey Birdman game was great, if you were a fan.  I had a tough time getting my non-fan friends to get in to it.

Did Colbert lend his talents to the Birdman game?

This is one of those DS games which looks interesting that I've never had the chance to try so I'm glad to hear there is a Wii version in the works.

Sadly, no.  Parts of this game are in fact a complete travesty.

Eh, don't get your hopes up. Before a PW game can be released here it first has to appear in Japan and I don't remember any reports of that.

Shame on both of you. If my girlfriend wasn't currently borrowing my entire PW collection, i'd lend them to you both.

Mop it up doesn't even have a DS!
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Not to mention that the game was very, very short.

Anyone have ideas for what would change in the transition to console? I would like to see more animation and less still character art. (Same goes for the new Trauma Center game coming out next year.) More voice would be nice, although I don't think it needs to be fully voiced.

I'd guess just a straight port (possibly with higher res sprites) to allow selling PW as a downloadable game without restricting yourself to one revision of a system (DSi).

Knowing Capcom, its likely going to be a port of one of the games with slightly better sprites and pointer functionality. I will be surprised if Capcom actually does a new game with new artwork, characters and stories.

That'd be fine with me since I haven't played any of them, but that's too bad for anyone who has.

Capcom might my $'s if it was some sort of advanced port; had some real animation and voice work, included a bonus case or two, maybe remixed scenarios.

Whatever this is going to be, it had better be modeled after the P&C Adventure format of Miles Edgeworth instead of the earlier Phoenix Wright and Apollo Justice titles.  Let's see a full-on Adventure game, rather than barely-interactive "visual novels".

The last for the wright games was the best for me.  But the case in the Finale was just TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO damn long.  HB was okay, but with the lack of certain WB characters (i.e. shags and scoob)
