Play as the shadow of a young boy and reach the top of the tower.

Weekly Famitsu  unveiled Shadow Tower, a new WiiWare title from Hudson Soft.  In it, players take control of a young boy's shadow and traverse the 2.5D world by running and jumping on the shadows cast by foreground structures. The ultimate goal of the game is to reach the top of a massive piece of architecture known as the "Shadow Tower."

In the platformer, players will be able to manipulate foreground objects by interacting with their shadows. For example, pulling the shadow of a lever will cause the actual lever to budge, starting a chain reaction that can potentially shift the shadows and open up new paths.  The young shadow will also have a butterfly that will help him interact even further with the real world objects.

Along with the Famitsu announcement, Shadow Tower's official website also went live. At the moment it features screenshots.

Famitsu reports that the game is currently 30% done and no release date has been confirmed.

I hate how people always go "Ico! Ico!" as if that has a monopoly on stone architecture and excessive bloom. Generally people compare too many games to Sony franchises, Wheelspin got shown and people went "Wiipeout!" as if Nintendo was the copycat when it comes to high speed futuristic racing (apparently noone ever heard of F-Zero) or when 4 player New Super Mario Bros got shown some dipshits actually considerd it a copy of Little Big Planet.

And that makes me sad that many young gamers had the PlayStation as their first console and act like Sony systems are the benchmarks. Very few Sony games are new or that good. LittleBigPlanet was one of the most over-rated games i've ever seen, the actual gameplay was mediocre (and gameplay is the main selling point in a platformer). Ico is good artistically, but is not a good game when it comes to playing it.

TJ, those games weren't exactly huge sellers, so I don't think they tainted too many young minds. I for one still want to play both of them.

Shadow Tower sounds quite awesome.

All LittleBigPlanet has going for it

If anything, your Sony comment I quoted in bold is so true it's not even funny. Alot of it has to do with popularity and what I deem "social coolness". You were cool if you owned a PSX. Nowadays, I think it's the 360/PS3 that is now within that element.

Except I don't think it helped them with their gaming skills.

Now, your comment in italics. You're my new best friend, I hate LittleBigOverhype with a passion. Ico just seems... boring. It's artistically great, but the gameplay front seems lacking.
Peachy got himself a 360 Slim. ...Yahoo?
