The first game in the Battle Network will be reborn on the DS.

In celebration of Mega ManÂ’s upcoming 25th anniversary, Capcom will remake the first game in the Mega Man Battle Network series, known as Rockman EXE in Japan.  The remake will be titled “Rockman EXE:  Operate Shooting Star.”. According to series producer Ken Horinouchi, it will be the first game in the Battle Network franchise since the series ended 3 years ago.

The Japanese teaser website features the producer expressing his desire to revisit the franchise thanks to the demands of  fans and promises more information next month. Japanese gamers can also join the Capcom Community and download a special wallpaper for their mobile phones.

The title is set for a winter release in Japan.

Haven't they been remaking this game for years now?

Yeah I believe so. Even stranger is how there are fans of the game who still want more, though somehow I doubt this is what they wanted...

I don't think anyone who is surprised by this is at all familiar with Capcom.

I'm not surprised by this announcement, I'm surprised there's actually demand for this game.

I never played the first MMBN game, but I was a fan of the series.  The main problem I had with it was the constant need to produce multiple versions.
TVman is dead. I killed him and took his posts.

IF YOU ARE REMAKING A MEGA MAN GAME FROM THE GBA,
REMAKE MEGA MAN ZERO! CAPCOM!

or better yet, make a MMZ5 with a better ending.

I can think of few things more pointless than this remake, and I actually liked the first few Battle Network games until Capcom ran the series into the ground like they do every other franchise (and Mega Man in particular).

Capcom needs to make sure they meet their quota of 15 Mega Man games a year, so this makes sense.

Seriously though, why re-make a GBA game? It's not that old. Why not re-make of the GB or GBC Mega Man games instead?

I'm kind of surprised they haven't tried to revive the Mega Man soccer game in some form or fashion (maybe with another sport or whatnot), considering we're talking about handhelds where that sort of thing would thrive.

Ha ha, I actually own that game. I've always thought it was a strange spin-off to make...
It isn't really a good game though. If they're going to do a sports spin-off it'd probably be better to start from scratch.

WHERE'S MY MEGA MAN GAME ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION FOR THE FIVE GAME BOY TITLES?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

What, you don't see it sitting right there next to that GBC remake of Resident Evil?

Bite your tongue, my friends and i still play this game on occasion, its freakin awesome.

I would rather have some sort of MMZ remake compilation; all the MMZ games remade to play awesomely on my big standard-def tv ;) I only have one of those games and it was full of badassedness even if they changed Zero's originally awesome look to something a little less.. don'tfuckwithme'edness. Now THAT would be a remake worth buying. Never did get into the BN games...

I wonder what happened to that myself. I was looking forward to it since at the time it was announced I hadn't played any of them.
