Wii remakes of Klonoa and Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat headline the latest week of releases.

 Wiimake is the operative word this week as the two biggest profile releases are Bandai Namco's Klonoa, which is a remake of their 1998 PlayStation game, and Nintendo's New Play Control! Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, which is a remake of their 2005 bongo-featuring GameCube game.    

This week also sees the release of Majesco's Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian for Wii and DS, 505 Games' Wii-exclusive The Destiny of Zorro, and more.    

On the downloadable side, Guitar Hero: World Tour has three free tracks from three little-known metal bands. Rock Band 2 brings 18 more songs to their growing library with REO Speedwagon, Styx, All That Remains, and Hautewerk leading the charge.    

 

 

Wii Games

Klonoa    Publisher: Bandai Namco   Cost: $29.99   ESRB Rating: E   Release Date: May 5       Klonoa is the remake of the 1998 PlayStation game of the same name. While the graphics have been enhanced, the gameplay that made it a favorite among many has been kept intact. Klonoa is a 2-D side-scrolling platformer in a colorful 3-D world. Players can grab and throw enemies at other enemies and discover new paths. Klonoa features various control options that take advantage of almost every control option the Wii has. New Play Control! Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat    Publisher: Nintendo   Cost: $29.99   ESRB Rating: E10+   Release Date: May 4       NPC! Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, the third title released in North America under the New Play Control! banner was first released in 2005 for the GameCube and is fondly remembered for its creative controls that used the bongo controller. The Wii version, however, uses the Wii Remote and Nunchuk and adds a few new features, including some extra levels and a new life meter.

   

   

         

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian    Publisher: Majesco   Cost: $49.99   ESRB Rating: E   Release Date: May 5       With the summer season upon us, the big blockbuster films are coming out in full force and right behind it are the games based on them. Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian once again stars Ben Stiller and players have to guide his character through challenges and protect the museum from the dangers that live within the museumÂ’s walls.

   

   

         

The Destiny of Zorro    Publisher: 505 Games   Cost: $49.99   ESRB Rating: E   Release Date: May 5       The legendary Zorro returns in a brand new Wii game from 505 Games. As in the classic TV series and the recent films starring Antonio Banderas, Zorro is out to fight the corrupt government and defend the people's rights by donning a cape and mask and using his legendary sword fighting. This will be replicated by using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck in this Wii-exclusive game.

   

 

 

DS Games

Jagged Alliance    Publisher: Empire Interactive   Cost: $29.99   ESRB Rating: E   Release Date: May 5     Jagged Alliance is an explosive fusion of role-playing game and turn-based tactical combat that allows players to become fully immersed in their characters.

   

         

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian    Publisher: Majesco     Cost: $29.99   ESRB Rating: E   Release Date: May 5       In Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, which is based on the upcoming film, players assume the role of Larry Daley, who must rescue Jedediah and his other friends from Akhmenrah's brother who captured them while stealing a powerful Magic Tablet.

Neal is technically correct. In America there are 6 companies under the Bandai Namco group: Bandai (the toy maker), Bandai Entertainment (Animes and Manga), Namco Bandai Games America Inc.(they use Bandai Namco Games for the publisher logo), Namco Networks America Inc.(cellphone games),Namco Cybertainment Inc.(Arcade Operations), and Namco America (Arcade Manufacturing).  So both Namco Bandai and Bandai Namc are technically correct since the only difference is naming formalities.

From my personal observations, it seems like Namco Bandai is usually used in America, while Bandai Namco usually refers to the Japanese branch.

To put it bluntly, these articles are a bitch to get together on a nice schedule. If you recall, I did these single-handedly for almost three months until I collapsed under the pressure. Thankfully, Luke and Pedro enlisted (maybe against their will. I forget) to help me with these on a weekly basis. Even still it's hard.
