...Are we OK with Nintendo vs. Capcom?
I was reading this article at My Review Point about 2009 predictions (you can read
here). Check out what number 3 has to say...
"3. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom does not get localized, but Nintendo vs. Capcom gets announced!
As much as I want to play as obscure Japanese Anime characters, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom! will not be localized for North American or European markets. There are too many legal battles to fight and the added cost of conversion would delay the game in Western Markets until late 2009. However, the game will act as the foundation of a video game that all gamers want to see, Nintendo vs. Capcom! We wrote a design story on this title, however, it was mere speculation. With the great graphics engine of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom! already built, Nintendo who has a strong relationship with Capcom, could co-develop a fighting title that would define this generation. Imagine the battles between Mario and Viewtiful Joe, or Peach vs. Morrigan? The game would allow it to cater to younger players thanks to the Nintendo brands, and Super Smash Bros Brawl has proven that when fighting games are done right on the Wii, sales of those titles go through the roof. C’mon Capcom! C’mon Nintendo, we know you read this blog! Make it happen. I am available as the Project Manager!"
OK, so the prediction is one big fanboy fantasy that has very little chance of happening (even the poster admits it). But let's pretend that Capcom really does want to release one way or another and updates its roster. Would you be happy with the change? Does the idea of Nintendo characters fighting Capcom characters entice you? What other franchise would you want Capcom fight if Nintendo isn't good enough?
