Suggestion regarding virtual console reviews
« on: December 13, 2008, 02:06:47 PM »
I love your site, but I have a small suggestion. VC reviews would be better, if each one was written by a person who didn't play the game in question before it came out on the VC. Why? Because, it just makes sense that, if you played a game when you were young, you're going to think more highly of it than someone who didn't try it until recently. So, a game review should be written by the same sort of person that it is written for: a person who is new to the game.

I hear you and took a lot of flack for some of my VC recs (see Kid Icarus) but it isn't really feasible for this to be done every time on a site run by Nintendo fanatics.

Therefore I think the best thing we can do is make sure the writer points out their history in the recommendation, which I think we try to do.

Man we have to keep the VC recs going.

Yeah, I think a bigger problem is the fact that we don't even post VC Recommendations on a regular basis.  I also agree with Pale in that some of us (OK, probably one of us) have literally been playing games on Nintendo systems for more than 20 years.  It's hard for us to find anything that we haven't seen or at least have a good grasp of, unless it's been Japan-only up to this point.
