I would think that national broadcasting rights might goober up the idea.  I don't care anyway because odds are it would just be American centric and I don't give a flying sh!t about how the United States does.  I only care about how "well" Canada does (hint: usually not very good).

And the Olympics are only boring if you don't like sports.  I know for I used to be totally disintereted in sports and had an instinctively hostile attitude towards them.  Now that I actually *try* when playing sports I actually have a good time and having an interest in sports allows me to have conversations with people who aren't so interested in videogames.

Though I prefer the Winter Olympics since Canada is actually, you know, good at them.  And I like watching curling.  Canadians have to.  It's like a rule.

Fun Fact: Canada is not only the only host country to not win a gold medal but we've done it twice in BOTH types of Olympics.  Canada won no golds in the 1976 Montreal summer games or the 1988 Calgary winter games.  With the 2010 winter games being in Vancouver I'm wondering if we'll keep this dynasty of failure alive.

Disliking sports has nothing to do with being bad at them, I can assure you. Besides, many sports can be fun to participate in with a small group of friends. That said, watching entire countries compete for absolutely no reason is boring at best.
