wouldnt it be AWSOME if nintendo started making their next GAMECUBE games with the OPTION of cooperative? I THINK it would rule and own al games, imagen IN mario u mario and lugi(a friend) beat the game together? or zelda you link and zelda(sister) together beating the game!Metroid you samus and maybe a MALE or female bountyhunter partner killing the pirates together! I think it would be PERFECT!obviously this would require longer programming but do you think is worth it? I DO!

I disagree.  This would lead to the idea that you need two people to get through a certain part.  Besides, I think it would ruin the gameplay of classics such as Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.

not in those three franchises (except perhaps mario), definatly not in zelda or metroid, i cant stress enough how having co-op in metroid would be just plain silly. but some co-op themed nintendo games would pique my interest very much so

i said they should give the OPTION! like include 2cds, one normal 1 player game and another one with the COOP just like RE0 that has 2 cds. i wouldnt affect game play since 1 game wouldnt have none and the other would.

i think it would be a good idea but only for the mario games  it would be like going back in time, remember? when you were playing the classic super mario titles like the super mario  world the had two player options but  i dont know why the started to make the new mario game a one player game i mean im not complaining  but  would have been cool to have the option in this new mario games,. the other two are fine as they are right now . but you can play coop on zelda the 4 swords......

The Tingle Tuner in Wind Waker is a good way to go with co-op modes. You don't need it to get through the game, but if you happen to have a friend watching you, he can help out a little instead of sitting there watching you play.
Co-op in adventure games would be a pain, since you would either have a split screen (yuk), have the screen scroll along with both characters (which would probably result in some glitchy camera movements or have a LAN connection with two systems and TVs.

for mario it would be alright, but definately not for metroid
maybe they could add some minigames to zelda (four swords) as an option
but not metroid- it would ruin the entire premise of the game as you are the lone human stranded on a planet fighting the space pirates
but for mario they should go back to the 2d games and make a coop like that where you take turns on the levels
i call the big one bitey.

they should have a mario which can play multiplayer like on Kirby:nightmare in dream land
2 players (mario and luigi) on the screen at once, instead of the horrid splitscreen
if the screen zooms out like on ssbm it would be good, just limit it so it doesnt look like zeldas castle on fixed camera mode

I would absolutely love it.  Some of my fondest gaming memories are playing coop (Secret of Mana).  Mario would work great, either counterop or coop (platform/puzzle goals I think would be fun as long as both were hard).  Metroid, I say screw atmosphere I want to play with a friend.  Of course, all of them would have to be specifically designed for playing with a friend.  I hope FF:CC is good for coop.

One reason for someone to not do something is that if they do it half-assed, then it ruins their credibility.  Unless Nintendo found some magical flawless way to integrate multiple players within the context of both gameplay and story, then the game would only get panned for ruining what would otherwise have been a superlative single-player experience.  Sure, the opposite was somewhat true with the original Smash Bros, but people managed to overlook that flaw because the core multiplayer mode could also be played alone.  I sure wish I had a good example of shoddily-done extra features causing reviewers to bash an otherwise good game, but none really come to mind at the moment.

EDIT:  Ah, I've got an example now.  Deus Ex for PC.  Originally it didn't come with a multiplayer mode, but through the ability of PC software to be patched, an ass multiplayer mode was released after fans clammored for it.  And if you didn't catch on before, the results didn't end up so hot.  Had this mode been released at launch, the scores would likely have declined a fair amount simply by weighing down the polished single-player mode with a tacked-on multiplayer option.  (Okay, fine, so it was only Deathmatch, and not the Co-Op example you're probably looking for.  But the principle that it needs to be done right or not done at all still stands.)

A Mario co-op would be fun and make sense as he does have a brother!
I also want a co-op Smash Brothers Adventure style!

I have played the Mario bros 3 multimode for days!
That rocks.  What I want to see is a game were u can play the bad guy( like bowser in Mario  or Ganondorf in Zelda for example).

Nintendo is going to treat us good:F-Zero and Star Fox Armada, new Pikmin, 1080, Kirby, Mario Golf, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis and 2 or 3 new franchises ( maybe mature).
Planning on buying an Xbox! Now all I nead is a good gamertag for Live!

I could understand a LAN or online Mario co-op, where you work together or race to get the Star

I could even imagine a LAN/online Zelda where Link must work with a new character to battle even more enemies and solve really hard puzzles (none of this easy crack in Wind Waker)
I'll shut up now...

Coop would be cool but not in old franchises like Mario, Zelda or Metroid, why?, because there can only be ONE Hero in these games.

But creating new games with different themes/universes/storys/characters that include coop, why not. FF:CC for example may turn out really great because of the Coop aspect.

Tingle tuner practically is co-op.  Metroid should never be, Mario already has been and could be again, and Star Fox Armada may very well have a co-op mode.  So. . .

Mario has Luigi.  Wind Waker has puzzles where you control a second player (but one with far less abilities).  Metroid, maybe not.  The puzzles in WW with 2 players are it's best!  It can be done (well, with mario and Zelda and least) without ruining anything.  And it's fun, so why not?

I'd like to see a race mode in the next Mario (racing to the objective, not Mario Kart or anything).  I'd also like to see some kind of co-op platforming where people have to hit switches for each other, or sychronize their jumps or something like that.

In Zelda, I'd just like them to keep up the 2 player puzzles.  I hear four swords is great, maybe include something like that.

Metroid is tough, because of the HUD.  System link may solve that.  Having enemies that require players to co-operate (rather than simply having the enemy be harder to compensate for double the firepower) would be cool.

I like that idea.  Of course it would change the way they design the games and the type of gameplay involved but that's what many are arguing for anyways.  Mario and Luigi coop would be awesome if they can pull it off.

Back when Super Mario 64 2 was being talked about by Miyamoto for the N64, one of the features was supposed to be 2 Player Co-op...

I'd like to see it, but if it was really too hard for them to pull off, even just a secondary split-screen (or LAN linking?) racing mode through selected stages like Sonic Adventure 2 Battle would be great...

John, I don't think it matters if it changes gameplay.  Sunshine already did that quite a bit

Sunshine changed gameplay, but it wasn't as big a jump as Mario 64 was from its predecessor.

The control scheme was the same, and some of the jumps were similar and stuff, but the whole game was based off of the fact that you could shoot water and hover, etc.  I'm not directing this toward you, because a lot of people don't seem to realize it, but SMS was a completely new thing for Mario.  People just seem to think otherwise because the graphics, controls, style, and everything were similar.
