Since the focus seems to be on 1ups impressions. Let me give IGN's (Provide some real balance instead of focusing on the negative sources).

1. Visuals are better
2. True Widescreen
3. Paint controls work faster and more efficiently than the PS2 version

Negative:

1. Straight lines can be a tad picky (Though can be overcome a bit by drawing quick lines)
2. Roll dodge is finicky at best.

So I guess you need to decide what is more important when picking which version. Personally I think it is a no brainer, but of course the slant in the Podcast was that the PS2 is most likely the better one based off NP and 1up, and yet relegated IGN to an afterthought. Not what I call a fair discussion. In fact it was obvious from the beginning that Johnny was slanting it towards the negative. All I have to say is if Okami is a solid port and fails, I better not hear more whining about third parties not bringing more hardcore games to Wii. This is one game the base pushed to get on Wii, so they better buy it and put their money where their mouth is especially since it appears the game is a solid port of the PS2 version regardless of what flaws it MAY have in comparison, because even if they turn out to be true it still is far from a "bad" port. Personally I'd love to see what Ready at Dawn can do with Wii in the future, and I just don't see that happening if Okami does poorly.

Well on multiple occasions I could've picked up a clearance copy of Okami for the PS2, but I would rather support the Wii version. So far the reviews don't really lead me to believe the Wii version is in any significant way inferior to the PS2 version. I honestly don't care what NP or 1up has to say because I rarely find that my experience with any particular game parallels theirs.

Honestly I think this will be a game where both versions do something better than the other, and it will depend on what you consider most important. My guess is that when the smoke blows over there will not be a "Definitive" version and if there is, it will not be by much.

[Once again, did you guys play the game or are just repeating what everyone else is saying?

I think we stated quite explicitly that we have not yet played the Wii version, and that all of our comments are hypothetical.  This is also reflected in the posts in this thread -- "IF the Wii version is inferior...", etc.

Once again, did you even listen to the podcast?

Remember, 1up didn't like the controls in RE4 Wii Edition, I don't think we should be trusting their judgment here.

What I find kind of interesting about Okami, is that I went back and read the PS2 reviews and multiple sources made reference to the paintbrush controls being finicky from time to time. So really, how much different is the Wii version in this regard? Could it be that after 2 years these reviewers have forgotten how imperfect the paintbrush controls were in the beginning? Maybe they just got used to them and really the Wii version paintbrush controls are actually better than the PS2 ones? We'll see, but I have a feeling it COULD be that people just aren't remember their first experience with Okami on PS2.

Yeah, for some reason 1up has a vendetta against the Wii as its VERY rare for a Wii game to do well, save for an extremely hyped first party game, only because they would look bad if they, say, bashed Mario Galaxy.

And Johnny, I didn't need to listen to the podcast to know that NWR jumped the gun when they said that Wiis would be readily available the next day after launch ;) .

So pap's allowed to make endless comments about games he's never played, but NWR can't do the same?  DOUBLE STANDARD.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Well at least Pap is giving the positive reaction of the game instead of focusing solely on the negative sources.

I was referring to his incessant negative ramblings about Brawl.

Isn't the general agreement that Brawl sucks?

But seriously, I've been pretty quiet about Brawl in the last few months. I avoided all character related discussions back when the full roster was revealed. In fact, I defended it by saying it was better than Melee's roster. I haven't commented that much about the lag, except that its disappointing to hear that many are having issues with it, even weeks after launch and that the SSE mode is good but not great.

The last "negative rambling" I posted was about how the Brawl team focused too much on the single player aspect when the multiplayer side could have been more robust.

I got over that, but the fact remains that the team focus too much on single player modes that will be forgotten in a month, tops, when they could have made the multiplayer aspect, a mode that people will play for YEARS, even better than before and work out the kinks.

But any issue Brawl may have I got over it as the hype and the anticipation has died down to the point where I can deal with them better and just enjoy the ride. So I don't understand what you mean when you say when I ramble on and on about Brawl.

If you are referring to Melee, though, that's another story.

Specially, I meant this post by you.

Back to topic: The online in brawl isn't the best thing in the world but it is far from the worst. I think its even cool that there is a spectator mode and you can bet on players(ZOMG nintendo is teaching I am a terrible poaster. s that gambling is fun!)

Its far from the worst, yes, but could have been MUCH better. Even if we were warned to expect lag with players living very far from each other it is VERY surprising that even players that are living right next to each other are getting slideshows for battles.

Worst of all, Nintendo's solution is to "wait it out". That will not happen as the game is still selling by the thousands and every day there are new players joining the ranks.

Logic dictates that when there are way too many people playing at the same time you take action and try to remedy this. But Nintendo has looked the other way.

Not only that, Mario Kart Wii looks to deliver as much more satisfying online experience. I remember Sakurai said that doing  leaderboards was hard and couldn't make it in time. Yet, MK Wii is going to have one and MORE.

Brawl is the product of misplaced priorities. Its great that they got 4 player battles with all items, all stages and all options available, but Nintendo should have been better prepared and deliver at the very least a clean online experience.

This is from the thread Crimm created asking for your online experience with Brawl.  Reading that, you never once mention that you haven't even touched the actual game disc, let alone spent some time playing the game online.  If I didn't know better, I'd have sworn that you actually had something unique to contribute, rather than echoing things you've read on the Internet.  The point of the thread was to learn about your experience with Brawl online.  Since you don't have any experience in Brawl online, you're just making a problem look worse than it is by repeating what you've heard.

EDIT:  I just realize I sound like a total prick.  Sorry about that.
