I'll see what I can do...
Err.. I hope this isn't too long. I got sort of carried away typing it.
Before the world existed, there existed three gods: Nayru, Farore, and Din. Together, these three gods created the earth, the spirit of law, and all the life forms to uphold the law. Afterwards, their duty's finished, they departed towards the heavens, and at the point where they left this world, three sacred triangles known as the Triforce remained. It was said that whoever were to lay their hands on this sacred Triforce would be able to change the world according to their deepest desires. If someone with an evil heart were to touch them, the world would be covered in evil; If a person with a righteous heart were to touch them, the world would be a land of peace. This place where the Triforce lay was known as the Sacred Realm.
There was a forest that acted as a barrier against evil, called the Kokiri Forest. One day, before the king unified the land of Hyrule, there were wars raging, and a Hylian mother brought her baby son to this forest and asked the Great Deku Tree and people of the forest, the Kokiri, to take care of him. The young boy, named Link, spent his childhood believing he was a Kokiri, dressed like the Kokiri, but unlike the other Kokiri children, he had no guardian fairy.
One day, the Great Deku Tree sent a guardian fairy named Navi to summon Link. He told Link of an evil man from the desert named Ganondorf. He told him that Ganondorf had cursed him in search of the spiritual stone of the forest. Link entered the Great Deku Tree to fight off the monsters of the curse, but it was already too late to save the Great Deku Tree from its fate. The Great Deku tree gave Link the spiritual stone of the forest and told him to go see Princess Zelda at Hyrule Castle, and then died from the curse.
Accompanied by Navi, Link went to Hyrule Castle and snuck past the guards to speak to Princess Zelda, who was in the castle courtyard. Without even thinking of calling the guards or bothering to introduce herself, Zelda excitedly asked Link if he was from the forest, and if he had a spiritual stone. She told him of a prophetic dream she had in which dark storm clouds covered Hyrule. But through the clouds, a beam of light shot down and parted them, showing a figure holding a sacred stone and accompanied by a fairy.
Finally, Zelda remembered to introduce herself. When Link told her his name, she felt it sounded strangely familiar. She asked Link to look into a window she was standing by that revealed the castle's throne room. A man with evil eyes was bowing to the king of Hyrule. Zelda went on to explain that she believed the dark storm clouds in her dream symbolized that man, Ganondorf. She told Link that although Ganondorf pledged allegiance to her father, she was skeptical of his intentions.
Princess Zelda told Link that the path to the Sacred Realm was through the Temple of Time, which was located in Hyrule Castle Town. However, to open the Door of Time which blocked this path, one would need the three spiritual stones and the Ocarina of Time, which was passed down through generations in the royal family. Zelda entreated Link to find the other two spiritual stones so that they could stop Ganondorf from taking over the world.
Link traveled to Death Mountain and helped the Goron people, who also had been troubled by Ganondorf, and earned their spiritual stone through valiant efforts rather than threats. He went to Zora's Domain and helped Princess Ruto of the aquatic Zora people to find her mother's precious stone, lost inside Lord Jabu-Jabu, a giant fish. She agreed to give him the stone, but expected him to marry her eventually. Link didn't seem to like this...
All three spiritual stones collected, Link left to return to Hyrule Castle. When he approached the bridge leading into Hyrule Castle, Princess Zelda and her caretaker came speeding out on a white horse. Zelda looked back at Link in distress, and threw the Ocarina of Time towards him, and it landed in the water surrounding the castle. Right after them came Ganondorf on a black horse. Ganondorf demanded that Link tell him where the white horse went. Link, with his excessive courage, would not tell him. Ganondorf showed his brilliant power and knocked Link back with a strange power, and sped off into the distance.
After getting the Ocarina of Time, Link was somehow contacted by Princess Zelda. She taught him the song that would open the Door of Time, the Song of Time. Link went and opened the Door of Time, and found a pedestal with the legendary sword of evil's bane, the Master Sword. Excited, he approached it, and pulled it from its pedestal... and was confronted with Ganondorf, who was so glad that Link had opened the path to the sacred realm for him.
In a strange commotion, Link awoke seven years later in the Temple of Light, situated in the center of the Sacred Realm. The sage of light who stood before him, Rauru, explained that the one to pull the Master Sword would become the Hero of Time, however Link was too young to be the Hero of Time, so his soul was preserved in the Sacred Realm for seven years. Ganondorf had apparently received the Triforce and turned Hyrule into an evil land. Link now had to awaken the five sages and use their power to confront Ganondorf, the king of evil, and bring peace back to Hyrule.
As Link began to walk towards the exit of the Temple of Time, he heard quiet footsteps behind him. He drew his sword and turned around, to see a young man with cloth covering most of his face and blonde bangs. He introduced himself as Sheik, survivor of the Sheikah, a people of whom very few were left. Long ago, the Sheikah had sworn allegiance to the king of Hyrule and guarded the royal family. Sheik aided Link in his journey by giving him advice on where to go and what to do. He taught Link magical ocarina melodies with his harp, also.
After awakening the sage in the Forest Temple, the Deku Tree Sprout was finally able to grow, the evil in that area gone.
*********Following paragraph contains a huge Ocarina of Time SPOILER, if you haven't played Ocarina of Time yet and plan to.**********
After Link awakened all of the sages, he came back to the Temple of Time and was greeted by Sheik again. Sheik told Link that when Ganondorf approached the Triforce, instead of attaining all three pieces, he had received but one piece--the Triforce of Power. The Triforce had separated into three pieces. The Triforce of Courage went to Link, and the Triforce of Wisdom went to the final sage, the greatest of them all... Sheik held up the back of his hand to show a triangle glowing, signifying he had the Triforce of Wisdom. --In a flash of light, Sheik was no longer in disguise and was revealed as Princess Zelda--
Zelda apologized for having to be in disguise, but explained that it was necessary to hide from Ganondorf. Just then, Ganon used his incredible powers, gained from the Triforce of Power, to capture Princess Zelda in a prism of light and take her away to his castle. Link went to Ganon's Castle, and battled with Ganon to save Princess Zelda. After defeating Ganon, The tower began to shake violently. In his last breath, Ganon was causing the tower to collapse. Link and Princess Zelda made their way quickly to the bottom and safely outside of the castle. After watching it collapse, a noise came from the rubble. Link approached it cautiously, and Ganon rose from the ruins, breathing heavily, he displayed the Triforce of Power on the back of his hand, and transformed into a ferocious pig-like monster. Ganon knocked the Master Sword out of Link's hand and created a ring of fire to prevent Link from getting to his sword. Link used what other equipment he had with him to defeat the king of evil, and with Zelda and the other sages' help, Ganon was sent into the void of the Evil Realm.
Link traveled back to his original time, seven years in the past, and journeyed away from the land that made him a legend. He journeyed to a very far away land called Termina, and a hundred or so years later, in Hyrule, The Wind Waker takes place.
