Warning: The Orphanage is a good movie
« on: January 21, 2008, 04:02:09 AM »
So good.

In fact the only negative things i have to say about that movie experience are:

1. i had to go to a theatre somewhat out of the way to see it, and it wasnt as comfortable as the one im used to going to

2. Subtitles; the movies in spanish, which i understand but whenever there are subtitles or captions my eyes just get drawn to them and it takes away from some of performances (which this movie had a few powerful ones)

3. The actors are from Spain. Lol i dont have a thing against the Spanish, its just their accents are odd and somewords sound odd.

EASYCURE: I remember thinking(don't ask me why) this was a blond haired, blue eyed, chiseled athlete. Like he looked like Seigfried before he became Nightmare.

The same thing happens with me, even with English subtitles, like in games or something.  My eyes just get drawn to the words, and I have to make a conscious effort not to look at them.

I heard about this movie a few months ago, and I've really been looking forward to it.  Unfortunately, the only "art house" cinema near me is currently playing Atonement and Juno, both of which are in release in regular theaters around here.  I hope I get to see it soon.

Oh GEEZ. Is it depressing? Yet another depressing foreign movie to put on my netflix and for my mom to buy and recommend to unsuspecting relatives in an effect to broaden their minds.

who said it was depressing??

actually, maybe it is..? i dont know what'll drag you down. the story deals with some sorrow issues and the climax is somewhat of a downer but it doesnt really have a sad or depressing ending. you really feel for the character at the end.. man it was such a powerful performance.. i should see that again

Juno was incredible. Jason Reitman is incredible. Ellen Page is incredible. Michael Cera... has been better. And they're all Canadian.

havent seen it. My gf saw it and said it wasnt that great, and her and i have really similar taste in movies. My friend jay on the other hand tries to be a movie buff and says its incredible...but i think he's saying it because his gf liked it cuz she really is a movie buff and is really annoying to watch movies with because she'll try to tear it apart AS you're watching the damn thing.. ugh.

so yeah, i'll give it a rent or something to see if i like it but for now its just not worth my $11
