Publisher press release mentions it, but Telltale Games remains coy. http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=15117 A single line in one of Publisher JoWooD Productions' press releases could be enough to turn dreams into reality for point-and-click adventure game fans: Sam & Max is coming to the Wii. However, Telltale games declined to confirm the information to
Shacknews, telling them, "when we're in a position to confirm that we'll be porting Sam & Max to the Wii, we'll make an announcement about it."
The Sam & Max games hearken back to the golden age of point-and-click adventure gaming, focusing on a wacky comic book cast solving wackier crimes using wit, humor, and old-fashioned problem-solving. The latest incarnation of the franchise is an episodic series of independent cases, set up much like a television show, with mostly self-contained episodes. Players can purchase each monthly episode as it comes out, or purchase the entire "season" for a discount at a later date.
However, though developer Telltale Games has expressed interest in bringing Sam & Max to consoles in the past, it's unclear whether the game would be released episodically via a download system like WiiWare or as an entire season of episodes sold on one disc through traditional retail outlets.
If true, this would be Telltale Games' second Wii title, after having ported CSI: Hard Evidence to the Wii for publication by Ubisoft. It would also be JoWooD Productions' second Wii release after the mystery title Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None, released under their American label, DreamCatcher Games. JoWooD Productions also handled the retail release of the PC version of Sam & Max Season One.
