Clive Barker's Jericho

Well I got around to playing the demo of this particular game and can't say I'm terribly impressed. It is too bad , because it borrows a lot of the ideas behind Geist. For those that do not know, you control a squad and the ghost of the fallen captain can possess each member (You are the ghost) to utilize their abilities. Basically think Geist meets Ghost Recon. Each character has unique abilities from telekinetic powers that move obstacles, to a mystical sniper rifle that can shoot enemies through walls, to a woman that can set a room on fire.

Sounds interesting right? Well if the demo is any indication it appears they dropped the ball, the level design seems horribly linear and the enemy design is pretty sad, with very generic fights. Maybe this changes in the final game, but so far I am leaning towards not buying the game because of what looks like to be, once again, a good idea but with less than stellar results. One odd thing is that really the demo wasn't that scary, the monster designs are so blah and even they "pop" out it is not even startling.

Sounds like Battalion Wars, but not good.  I know.  I own Battalion Wars, and have read a lot about it!

Hmmm, not sure I would compare it to Batallion Wars because this is more of an action game then a strategy one.

I finally got around to playing it. I was intimidated by the film that comes with it. Sounded too complicated.

But as it turns out its not really. Almost like having one guy with 3 powers and 3 weapons and 3 points of view.

I thought it was too dark. I didn't like the control, especially after Halo 3,  moreso after Metroid Prime 3. I didn't like dying 10 times because the button pushes went away too quickly in part thats like God Of War and Resident Evil 4.

I liked that its not too cheap with the enemies. You can shoot the parts that stick out above the shields. A little bit of exploring, though not much. Kinda like how Doom has exploring.

And whats with the new Avatar? You decide you like Heavenly Sword or did you lose a bet?

Actually it is my favorite PS3 game (which isn't saying alot) and it could have been a great game if it was polished a bit more.

You know with your whole strong female character theme, Samus deserves better representation.

Bustin you are right about the film making the game sound complicated, and personally I wish some of that remained. As it stands the possessing aspect appears to be more of a gimmick and doesn't play a HUGE role in how you proceed. I am afraid the game will be quite basic when it comes out, which is too bad because the Geist esque gameplay has so much potential.

Played the PSN demo. This game is crap.
I am Karl Castaneda's news-posting clone, also known as Karl Castaneda #2. I have an inferiority complex, thanks to my being a clone. Fear me!

Jericho seems pretty "meh".  It's not bad just not terribly good. It kinda reminds me of the "undead" levels of Return to Castle Wolfenstein except not as fun.

If the demo is any indication the game is NOTHING like Silent Hill. It is a team based doom.
