I'm up for it.

Two people at CAG have already started setting up an official ....mmm, I guess the word is event for it.

I'm going to quote the whole original post, even though most of it doesn't really apply here, but it might provide some adequate direction on the idea.  For the record, they are adamantly against two things: 1) Having a "I own" list, and 2) Having a "I don't want" list, in order to keep it true to the "secret Santa" vibe.  I personally don't completely agree with these two rules.  For example, if I own Mario Bros Classic Series, what's the point of having it on the Wii?  But oh well.

Zen Davis and I are leading up the CAG Secret Santa project.  At this moment we need to come to a consensus on how this should work, so you're not signing up yet, just offering suggestions.  Here's my rough, initial ideas.

All of this is subject to Nintendo getting this system online before Christmas.

Participants must meet the following requirements:

1) Have been a member on CAG since March 2006 or earlier OR have an iTrader rating of 15 or better with no negatives or neutrals*
2) Have a Wii, connected to the internet, and be willing to share system codes with other CAGs.
3) Sign up by the deadline, November 15, 2007
4) Games must be gifted by TBD(depends on when Nintendo gets this up and running--our deadline will liekly be before Christmas though)
5) Must not be a dip.  I.e., don't get people crappy games unless they really want them, remember to thank your Secret Santa, etc.
6) We reserve the right to prevent anyone from participating in this activity at our discretion.  Be nice and you should be good.

*exceptions to this rule will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  PM myself and Zen Davis for exception consideration.  Feel free to bring eBay or other feedback, or have other CAG members vouch for you.  Even if you have nothing other than your word for us to consider, give us a PM.

General rules for the Secret Santa project:
A) Zen and I will pair up everyone.  We work as a team so neither one of us assigns ourselves.  You'll receive a PM when your secret Santa mate is selected.  When you've sent your gift, send with Zen or I (whoever sent you the PM first) a note to let us know it was sent.
B) Aim for between 1000 and 1600 points spent.
C) Take a look at reviews and general consensus on games.  Don't give complete crap.  No one wants Donkey Kong Jr. Math.
D) Whatever rules and stipulations Nintendo may put into place on these transfers.  My guess is that Someone from America can't gift to someone in Japan or Europe, but we'll see.

Rules for signing up!
Read the rules again.  They've been tweaked since you last read them.  Make sure you'll comply.   Make a post in this thread with just this information, laid about very specifcally.  Follow each line with a return and don't break anything else up.  This will allow for the easiest record keeping on our end.  If you post incorrectly, you will not be registered.  Your post should be as follows:

CAG User Name
Wii Code with dashes ever 4 numbers
Genres (NOT Games) enjoyed*
Genres (NOT Games) disliked*

The ones with * after them are optional.  If you want to just make it a free-for-all (as I think I will), leave any or all of them blank.  Nintendo won't let you buy a game for a person they already own.

DO NOT prephase your information with a title (i.e., DON'T say "CAG User Name: daroga" jsut type "daroga" on the first line) Clear?  As mud I'm sure.  A sample post would be as follows:

daroga
0000-1111-2222-3333
Platformers, RPGs, Puzzles
Racing, Fighting

You cannot register if you do not meet the qualifications of Rules #1.  If you don't meet them but want to participate, PM both Zen Davie and myself on the same PM with your request and anything that might help us approve you (feedback from other sites, another CAG member's rep, how much you love us, whatever ).

I must find a way to use "burninate" more in my daily speech.

Status of Smash Bros Online bet:
$10 Bet with KashogiStogi
$10 Bet with Khushrenada
Avatar Appointment with Vudu (still need to determine what to do if I win, give suggestions!)

We should definitely do a Secret VC Santa Program here on NWR.

-Only we should have a 1000 point limit and list our favorite genres and the Top 5 games we are most interested in but probably wouldn't buy for ourselves.(your secret santa does not have to buy from this list if they found something that they think you would really enjoy)
-Only regulars need apply, if you haven't actively participated in the forums this year, no need to apply (unless you are NWR Staff).
-Match Making should be completely random(done by staff) and no two members should be gifting to each other.

Those rules make sense and should work here. If we do the secret Santa thing we can do it on the NWR Friend codes forum, or make a new forum for it.

Matchmaking done by staff BlacknMild2k1? So does this mean that our illustrious new Community Moderator, Crimm-iny Cricket would do the honors of running the entire thing?

Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;

This could be the chance that the staff needs to actually join(read as: participate in) their own community.
Its a starting point.

Perfect example of a self-destructive Nintendo-fanboi response.

I don't think I'd do a secret Santa, b/c I don't trust people on the internet. But I guess if you guys all know and trust each other well enough... good luck.

Don't trust people on the internet?!?! But don't you want to help a foreign dignatory move a large amount of money into the states?
