Well, since, after this news, we could see a major change in the way Nintendo Power is handled, I decided to take a small risk and subscribe for another five years in advance.

Using ye ol' $20 for five year method, I took the plunge.

Current coupon code CPNCABIN15 gives you 15% off.  I couldn't find an awesome 18% off code like vudu (I did find a 19% off code, but it expired back in June...), but still... I figure it's worth the small risk in hopes of getting a good deal later.

For the most part, as Nintendo Power was just an arm of Nintendo, it could afford to lose money - since it was an advertising tool for Nintendo.  Now that it's going to be (mostly) independent, I can see them improving the magazine - they can't afford to let it just lose money if they don't have game sales to bail them out. Just a theory.

Besides, now I get to brag to all the ladies about how my Nintendo Power subscription lasts until Aug 2017.

Improving schmimproving...I personally think the magazine is fine right now.  There are some lame bits where it turns into an advertisement for Nintendo's latest product, but otherwise I think they've been doing a decent job...  I suppose I should give them the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not too optimistic.

But let's be honest here: gaming mags in general are d00med because the Internet has equal or better coverage at a much faster pace.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Outsourced? Well it's not like Nintendo Power was ever written by Nintendo themselves, so it's not really outsourcing...
