I know I've bragged on TheCoverProject.net many times before, but I'd like to do it again.  I got the bug in my butt to case/cover all of my GBA games recently.





They look sweet.  I've still got nine more to go and it's running me about $2/case all together, but they look sweet.

i still can't believe how much money you drained on the other items at the online Nintendo store......

One day I will probably do the same since a few of my GBA games no longer have a box.  For now, my old GB cases will have to do.

My biggest gripe is that the GBA booklets don't fit in the DS cases.  However it looks like you have them stashed in there... did you mod the cases at all (grind that plastic down?)

How are you able to fit your old GB/GBC games into the DS cases?

I love the cover project. I am currently in the process of making US style Gamecube cases for my japanese games, action replay and gb player disc. I would do the DS cases for GBA games but it costs so much(~$4.00) to get a nice insert printed and cut for the case. I'll probably take a look around my area and see if there is anyplace who can do it cheaper.

I had my GBA covers printed at Kinko's for $0.99 each.  They look pretty slick, but they're not on glossy paper.

Another poster on TCP noted that his Kinko's wouldn't print the covers due to copyright concerns.

As for getting the GBA manuals inside of the DS cases, yeah, you have to modify them, but it's super-easy.  I'm going to post some pics later (someone on the Nintendo forums asked), but basically, on the left side of the DS case, toward the top about a quarter of an inch from the very top is a line of plastic that seems to go across for no apparent reason.  Cut it out (carefully, of course) and presto!

Okay, here's what's going on. Sorry for the crappy camera job, I was running my camera phone while doing the cutting... it's rather difficult.

If anyone attempts to do this, please be very careful. Children should not attempt to do this, nor do I reccomend attemping to do this while filming it.

Anywhoo, So you make a cut through the plastic on each end of the case. Then, run your blade flat along the corner where the plastic edge meets the case. I paused the video at this point (around the 1 min mark), but during the pause, I ran my blade over this same area 5-6 more times. Eventually, you'll hit a spot where you break through to the other side (that's where I restarted recording). Once you do that, stick the blade all the way through and (if you ran the blade across enough times), you should be able to cut the entire plastic strip off. As you can see with this particular one, I didn't run the blade all the way at the end enough times, so I had to kinda go at it again there...

But that's how I did it...

Wait, you got Drill Dozer to fit into the GBA cart holder of a DS case?

Also I'm still annoyed at the European DS cases, they're the same size as the GBA cardboard boxes. Probably because NoE stuffs so many booklets in there that it wouldn't fit into the Japanese form factor (and once you throw those stupid safety guides away the clip space is so large it won't hold the manual anymore...).

Drill Dozer (and GB/GBC carts) can fit inside of a DS case, but they take a bit more cutting of the case to squeeze them in.  You won't get a video of this one, but you have to cut the bottom of the slot that holds the GBA cart out for both Drill Dozer and GB/GBC carts and for GB/GBC Carts, you have to cut out half of the DS card slot.  It looks ugly, but you only see it when you have the GB/GBC cart out of the package.

That's quite impressive that it fits that nicely.  I'm guessing it has enough of a grip to hold on to it reasonably well to (with the tabs on the side)

I don't mind the size, I mind the complete lack of spine art on them. I love spine art.

Yeah, I alphabetize (mostly... if it's a series, I'll usually put them in order of release or such though, for example, it's Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Advance, Super Mario Advance 4, Super Mario Advance 3.

On another note, I went back to Kinko's to print off the last few covers I needed and they wouldn't do it.  Said it was against copyright laws.

So I went to Staples. $0.49/copy - half the price of Kinko's.  Woot.
